Made a bright start to his hurdling career with wins at Newton Abbot (2m1f) and Ludlow (2m5f) handling heavy and good ground alike. Latest he struggled at Newbury (2m, good to soft) under double penalty and again has stiff task on these terms.

Robin Des Champs gelding showed a marked improvement on third hurdles start when narrowly denied last time out at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good to soft) and must enter calculations on that new evidence.

Had a shocking record in point-to-points (failed to complete in six of seven) but has shown a little more since being sent over hurdles but recent Ludlow efforts still leave him with something to find seemingly.

French import, filly has been off the track 346 days having been pulled up at Pau when last out. First start for Harry Fry, sports a tongue-tie and market likely best guide to expectations.

4/1
Latest effort in Warwick maiden hurdle (2m5f, good) in April was much the best of four starts over these obstacles. Conceding fitness to three of four rivals today but entitled to be in the mix if ready to go.

Forecasts

Allez Jacques (7/4), Drinks Interval (7/2), Speedalong (4/1), Vivant (4/1), Shadow's Boy (7/1)

Verdict

Shadow's Boy has hinted he'll be capable of getting on the board in this sphere, his Ludlow second a standout from efforts, but he didn't build on that next time at the same venue and has something to work on again. Speedalong produced his best effort to date on his final start last season at Warwick and would be noted if any market support comes on reappearance while dual winner Drinks Interval might just be found out by the weight he carries. ALLEZ JACQUES showed a marked improvement to be narrow runner-up at Uttoxeter 19 days ago and is taken to build on that and open his account now.
  1. Allez Jacques
  2. Drinks Interval
  3. Speedalong
