Off the track for 13 months prior to his most recent start at Wolverhampton (7f). Dropped in trip, and 4lb in the weights, but needs to step forward massively on just his second start for this trainer.

A five time career winner, with a 33% strike rate on the AW (3 from 9). Still 1lb above her last winning mark at Newmarket in July, and disappointing on her last start at Nottingham in early October. 6f is her trip.

Strongest on synthetics, and was a runner up to Ascot Day at Lingfield in January (5f) from a 5lb higher mark. Not so strong at the back-end of the turf season, and stamina a slight concern over this trip.

Has finished runner up in three of his last four starts, the pick of which came at Goodwood in September when beaten a neck by Showmethewayavrilo (6f soft). Versatile in terms of trip, and likely to be finishing stronger than most.

Well treated on the pick of his career form, but posted a poor effort over 5f here early last month (last of 11). Dropped another 4lb, and now has the first time tongue tie applied (added to hood). Both successes came over 6f.

Not at her sharpest since winning over C&D in October 2016, but on the plus side has fallen to her last winning mark. Likely to race prominently, but could potentially do too much early seeking to get across from her wide draw.

Has a couple of Chelmsford successes on his CV in 2017, including a 5f handicap in April, and a C&D claimer latest. Given a 3lb rise for that latest decisive success, and third placed Tatlisu was a Wolverhampton winner on Tuesday.

Nabbed by the fast finishing Bahamian Heights over C&D early last month, but scored just a few days later at Kempton when beating tonight's rival Nezar by 1¼L. A solid AW performer overall, and has strong claims with just a 3lb rise in the weights.

Both career successes have come on Tapeta at Wolverhampton (6f), and he was beaten a weakening 2L when fourth to Born To Finish (Nezar second) at Kempton last month, so needs more.

Strongest on soft ground on turf, but is a fairly reliable sort overall. Races from a reasonable mark and 6f appears to be his optimum trip, but 0 from 13 on synthetics, and has a wide draw to contend with.

Back from some time off the track with a victory at Lingfield in October, beating Alkashaaf by a neck. Disappointing next time when well held by Born To Finish at Kempton, so plenty to prove based upon that latest effort.

A three time AW winner, including twice for Keith Dalgleish (7f) at the turn of the year. Woeful in his last three runs for Hugo Froud, and back for a new trainer on his first start since May.

Won a couple of races in quick succession on the turf in mid summer (soft/ heavy ground), but has lacked much in the way of progress lately, seemingly due to a rise in the weights.

Age: 5|  Weight: 8-11| J: Hollie Doyle| T: K O Cunningham-Brown| OR:  70| D

Headed near the finish when beaten ½L by Favourite Royal at Epsom (7f) in late August, and has been raced sparingly since. Hasn't shown his strongest form on synthetics (0 from 7), but in theory a drop back to 6f is a plus.

Forecasts

Born To Finish (4/1), Nezar (6/1), Cappananty Con (7/1), Aleef (8/1), Captain Lars (8/1), Inexes (10/1), Monte Cinq (10/1), Danecase (12/1), Curious Fox (12/1), Whirl Me Round (14/1), Jameerah (16/1), Gold Flash (16/1), Red Tycoon (20/1), Kinglami (25/1)

Verdict

Captain Lars is clearly well suited by this track, and shouldn't be hastily dismissed just because it was a claimer in which he scored latest, whilst Aleef is well treated for David O'Meara if the first time tongue tie proves the solution to his current struggles. However, the standout piece of form in the contest came at Kempton last month, with BORN TO FINISH beating Nezar by 1¼L (Cappananty Con fourth, Danecase tenth). Jamie Osborne's four-year-old probably got off lightly with just a 3lb rise, and with Jameerah amongst those likely to race prominently tonight, this race will once more be set up for a strong finisher, with Born To Finish and Nezar again expected to fill the first two places.
