Half-sister to a useful hurdler in Mon Lino she was sent off at 40/1 on her Warwick debut and looked in need of the experience. Outpaced there this sharper track isn't sure to suit and probably needs further to show her best.
Second foal by Doyen with the dam having had two runs in bumpers. Makes her debut here with yard not yet having had a winner this season (0/54) and 0/3 in this sphere; best watched.
Trainer has a much better strike-rate this season than usual in bumpers and this one showed ability despite being sent off at 50/1 on debut. Finished a creditable 4th on that occasion and although that form hasn't been tested yet it did looks a reasonable mares' bumper.
First runner under Rules for this yard with a Black Sam Bellamy mare who only cost £650 as a three-year-old out of a dam who was a winner at up to 1m2f. Would be a surprise winner on debut.
Just one bumper success for this yard in the last five years (1/22) and this one is unlikely to make it the second winner. Well held in a Southwell bumper on debut (started 80/1) and likely to need time to show anything further.
Trainer always to be respected in bumpers and already has a 25% strike-rate this season in this sphere. Didn't offer that much on debut despite an encouraging pedigree although she should come on for the experience and better is expected here.
Not seen since August when she was made favourite for a Newton Abbot mares' bumper on her debut. Showed that she had ability in finishing third to a pair with experience and may have room for more improvement after a short break.
Trainer has had a fairly quiet time of late (welcome winner Southwell on Tuesday) and although she hinted at some ability on debut at Southwell she failed to stay. May well be able to show more this time but needs to improve on her last start.
Looked in need of the outing on her debut at Aintree (66/1 chance) when not really going with any fluency and running green before fading. Could come on for that run and yard have had a couple of bumper winners this season.
From a yard in good form overall and 5/13 in this sphere this season (have a good record with debutantes; struck with one at Southwell on Tuesday). Looks to have plenty of stamina in the pedigree (half-sister to useful 3m chaser/hurdler Kilcrea Kim); interesting prospect.
Comes from the same Warwick bumper as three of her rivals and was quietly supported on that debut run at big prices. Showed that she had ability there and although the yard are not known for their bumper winners/runners is worth noting in the market here.
Closely related to a couple of useful horses from the same stable in Balthazar King and For Good Measure. Cost €16,500 as a three-year-old and given her pedigree/yard makes obvious appeal; yard strike-rate in bumpers this season 46%.
Showed very little in her sole point-to-point (failed to finish) but did much better on her Rules debut in a Worcester bumper in May. The one she finished just behind (Drinks Interval) has won twice since although she may need further to show her best.
Forecasts
Sea Story (5/2), Lilliput Lane (7/2), Smart Getaway (7/1), Hurricane Minnie (7/1), Chequered View (8/1), Spirit Of Mendip (10/1), Petronella Manners (18/1), No No Legend (20/1), Touch Of Velvett (20/1), Brushed Up (40/1), Fifty Peach Way (40/1), Gloi (40/1), Bella's Vision (66/1)
Quite an interesting bumper to finish off the card with Spirit Of Mendip among the leading contenders given Phillip Hobbs record in bumpers this year and it won’t be a surprise if she can make a winning debut. It’s another debutante though that gets the vote in SEA STORY – the Kim Bailey yard are in rude health at the moment and struck with a bumper debutante at Southwell on Tuesday. Chequered View did best of the four runners that contested a Warwick bumper earlier this month and she should be able to progress and confirm the form with her main rival from that event Smart Getaway. Lilliput Lane is another to take the eye with Hurricane Minnie also worthy of a market check being a rare bumper runner at Ludlow for Alan King.
- Sea Story
- Spirit Of Mendip
- Chequered View
