Prolific AW winner, including three times over C&D, but returned from a 5 month absence in uninspiring fashion when seventh of 11 at Chelmsford last month. May just find a few too sharp today.

Chilean and Norwegian winner over sprint trips but well beaten in three starts here early in the year. No sign of improvement for a new yard at Newcastle last month following an absence and probably best watched in the short-term.

Decent strike-rate on both turf and the AW, his most recent win coming at Brighton in August. Reasonable effort over C&D in a better race last time out and may not be out of this despite the outside draw.

8/1
C&D winner who began the year with two AW wins at Newcastle but was then absent for a big chunk of the summer. Hinted that he was working his way back into form when mid-division at Newcastle last time but poor draw here.

Won twice over 5f on the AW for Dermot Weld and got off the mark in England with a game success in a fillies handicap at Newcastle (6f) last month. Tougher going in a better race there latest.

Only AW success from 11 attempts came over 6f here in January from a higher mark and, though placed on four occasions since, he has failed to shine in two recent runs following a few months off. Others more convincing right now.

Consistent performer who won at Newcastle before chasing home a progressive sort over this C&D last month from this mark. Didn't get a clear run at Newcastle last time but much better drawn now. Looks a player.

Looked a promising sort at one stage but largely regressive, though did pop up with a win at Bath in the summer. Potentially handily-weighted for his AW debut providing the introduction of a hood has the desired effect.

Looked a nice sort when justifying favouritism on his debut in a 6f maiden here in June, though a shade disappointing in two 5f turf handicaps since. Dropped 3lb, however, and has to be of some interest returned to the AW.

7/2
Poor strike-rate on turf but better on the AW where he is 5-28, two of those wins coming over C&D. Not at his best last time out at Chelmsford but was heavily-backed that day, so hard to dismiss off present mark.

Forecasts

Top Boy (7/2), Landing Night (9/2), Tilly Trotter (6/1), Upavon (6/1), Always Amazing (6/1), Rich Again (8/1), Fast Track (12/1), Dynamo Walt (12/1), Union Rose (14/1), Old Fashioned (25/1)

Verdict

LANDING LIGHT found trouble in running from a poor draw at Newcastle last time but is much better judged on his previous effort which saw him beat everything bar the progressive Alsvinder over C&D, finishing in front of a subsequent winner in the process. Rebecca Menzies' charge is ideally-boxed in stall 2 and may have too much for the likes of Top Boy and Upavon. The lightly-raced Always Amazing is also interesting returned to the AW.
  1. Landing Night
  2. Always Amazing
  3. Upavon
