First start for 16 months here and has dropped 4lb since his last run. Would have to be considered based on his Cartmel run in June 2016, though does have to prove his fitness/well being. Market check advised.

Arrives in tremendous form after a hat-trick over trips from 2m6½f-3m, which has seen him rise 22lb in the weights. Appears to go on any ground and this latest 6lb rise will ask more questions, but couldn't confidently say he won't have the answers.

Has 15½L to find with Irish Octave on their Uttoxeter running from October, though is now 18lb better off with that opponent. Was in the process of running a decent race when falling last time and if cheek pieces prove positive he has a squeak.

Glenteeneasaight90
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-4| J: J E Moore| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  88| D

Multiple point-to-point winner who has not performed up to market expectations in two recent runs back under rules, sent off at 5-1 and beaten 32L and then 6-1 last time when beaten 47L over C&D. Has a fair bit to prove given those stats.

Ronnie Lawsont35
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-1| J: R Johnson| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  85| D
6/1
0-8 under rules and runs in only his second chase, having completed a hat-trick in point-to-points in 2015, but then having two years out of action. Has shown steady improvement in three starts since and on a workable mark for return to chasing.

Won back-to-back races here over C&D and at Market Rasen early last year under today's pilot, the second from 10lb higher than today. Not in as good form as that lately, but not too far off either, though it will be tough to win from 6lb 'wrong'.

Lady Jamesont5
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Adam Wedge| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  53| D
50/1
Dual point-to-point winner but she has shown no worthwhile form under rules and has failed to complete in her last three starts. 21lb out of the handicap and impossible to recommend her.

Forecasts

Irish Octave (7/4), Boyfromnowhere (3/1), Corner Creek (4/1), Ronnie Lawson (6/1), Glenteeneasaigh (8/1), French Seventyfive (14/1), Lady Jameson (50/1)

Verdict

Irish Octave arrives in the form of his life and it would clearly not be a surprise if her were good enough to complete a four-timer in what is a poor contest. However, CORNER CREEK is now 18lb better off with him that when they traded blows at Uttoxeter in October and first-time cheek pieces might just be able to nudge things in his favour this time. Ronnie Lawson is not ruled out, while Boyfromnowhere is well handicapped on last year's form and a market check is suggested to gauge confidence on his return from a lay-off.
  1. Corner Creek
  2. Irish Octave
  3. Ronnie Lawson
