Won at Huntingdon in early 2016 but lost way a little since. Went close back to that winning mark to end last season and now 1lb lower after one paced fourth to start this campaign. Cheek pieces added and well capable off this mark.
Mixed bag over fences for Oliver Sherwood, winning first time up then pulling up next twice. Changed yards since and open to improvement but has a few question marks nonetheless.
Effective at up to 3m5f and ran best recent races over that distance with thirds at Fakenham and Exeter. Pulled up in last two starts over shorter and likely to get too far behind again here.
2m4½f the furthest he has tackled to date and certainly didn't look one crying out for step up in trip. Lone chase win over 2m1f here on fast ground. Chance if he stays but that far from certain.
All three career wins here although he was pulled up last time he ran here. Furthest he has won over is 2m3½f and still not convinced by his capabilities over this sort of trip.
Won back to back chases in July with the second win quite impressive. 17lb hike quickly stunted that progress however and has really struggled since. Blinkers now added but suggest he is still too high in the handicap.
Dual winner here including over course and distance way back in 2013. Placed off this mark in last three races in the spring but never won after a break so no guarantee he will do himself justice first time back.
Lone win over 3m plus back in 2012. Beaten a nose however over C&D back in March and now 1lb lower. Decent efforts last twice over shorter trips and capable of going well here.
C&D winner last April but somewhat mixed bag since. Ran a good race in second two starts back before slightly unfortunate unseating latest. Chance on her better form although not the most reliable.
Forecasts
Fight Commander (10/3), Talk Of The South (9/2), Like Sully (6/1), Itoldyou (6/1), Amberjam (15/2), Flashman (17/2), Venetian Lad (11/1), Frank N Fair (14/1), Jack Snipe (16/1)
It is close to two years since FIGHT COMMANDER won but this is certainly a good opportunity for him with the expected improvement from his first run of the season. Veteran Venetian Lad may prove the biggest threat having gone so close over course and distance last March. It is hard to know what to expect from Amberjam now after his last two runs but he could be the sort to catch first time out and he has shown ability in the past.
- Fight Commander
- Venetian Lad
- Amberjam
