€70,000 purchase and a full-brother to Grand National winner Ballabriggs. 5-1 but disappointed when a 98L last of eight (2m½f, heavy) at Newcastle in March. Bit to prove after that, but should be capable of a better run with stable going well.

Runner-up in an Irish point-to-point in April when there was cut in the ground and changed hands for £50,000 soon after. Pedigree nothing special, but stable among the winners and is 28% in bumpers, so market check suggested.
€45,000 purchase at three and half-brother to French/Belgian 2m1f-2m7f chase winner Brise Du Large, out of a 1m7f-2m5f hurdle/chase winner. In the hands of a trainer with a 22% strike rate in bumpers, so another to check in the market.

33-1 and raced quite keenly on debut when beaten just under 7L into fifth at Fakenham (2m, good) last month. Scope for improvement on that evidence and it would be no surprise to see him take a hand this time.

First foal of an unraced half-sister to useful 2m4f/2m5f hurdle winner Flemenson, out of bumper/2m-2m6f hurdle/chase winner. Stable 22% in bumpers over five years and also in good form, so a very competitive debut entirely possible.
Half-brother to useful 2m-3m hurdle/chase winner Horatio Hornblower, 2m chase winners George Nympton and 2m hurdle winner My Cousin Rachel, out of bumper/2m-2m6f hurdle winner who loved soft ground. Stable has bumper winners, so check market.
Placed in an Irish point-to-point earlier in the year and sent off at 7-1 for his bumper debut here in October, when he ran well to be a 3L runner-up. Experience is often a big plus in these races, so he is entitled to short-listing on that basis.
Cost £105,000 at three and has a very nice pedigree, being related to several winners. Half-sister and dam both won bumpers and given the stable's hot form in recent days, he could be capable of a big debut performance.

£10,000 yearling. Half-brother to five winners on the Flat at trips from 6f-1m2f. Dam placed over 1m2f in France. In good hands from a National Hunt perspective but is yard's second string on jockey bookings and perhaps one to watch on debut.

Sent off at 11-4 on debut in a similar race here in October, being run out of second close home to be beaten just over 3L. Entitled to improve for that run and has claims of success if he can find some.

Forecasts

Stylish Moment (3/1), Neachells Bridge (7/2), Clash Of D Titans (6/1), Legal Eyes (13/2), Not Normal (8/1), Ballasalla (10/1), Moonlighter (12/1), Cuban Pete (12/1), Snougar (14/1), Golden Friday (25/1)

Verdict

Ballasalla could put behind him his disappointing debut today with the stable going well, but he does have to prove it on the track and preference is for STYLISH MOMENT, whose recent debut here will stand him in good stead. There is little to choose between he and Neachells Bridge judged on their first efforts, so Neil Mulholland's five-year-old could be a danger today. There are some very interesting newcomers to keep an eye on too, with Legal Eyes, Not Normal and Clash Of D Titans perhaps the ones most likely to be involved this time.
  1. Stylish Moment
  2. Neachells Bridge
  3. Ballasalla
