Won two of her four starts so far but no match for the classy Apple's Jade at Punchestown in a Grade 1 latest. This is considerably easier and she's going to take some pegging back in this lower company.

Best form has been posted over 3m and looks to face a very stiff test with facing Karalee on level weights (rated 9lb inferior). Needs a little luck on her side.

Thirds in a Listed race last time and already has form to reverse with Karalee, so not outrageous to say she faces an uphill task. The rider's claim helps at the weights but still may not be enough.
Finished 2l in front of Barra in a Listed race latest and very feasible she'll uphold that from. The trip may be her undoing on this occasion, though, as she's proven to be better over a good bit further.

Bolted up a mares only maiden at the start of summer and likely needed the run on her reappearance in a Grade 3 at the start of this month. Going the right way and open to a good bit of improvement. Might be the one to give Karalee the most to do.

Has a mountain to climb on the official ratings (85 as opposed to Karalee's mark of 145) and not hard to overlook this time.

Forecasts

Karalee (13/8), Barra (11/4), Dawn Shadow (4/1), Lesley Dawn (6/1), Tellthemnuttin (15/2), Field Exhibition (66/1)

Verdict

All things being equal, the drop in grade should be a bit of a breeze for KARALEE, who is likely to take some pegging back given that most of her rivals are better suited to racing over further. Also noteworthy her yard has dominated this race - winning five consecutive renewals up to press. Lesley Dawn is at least unexposed and could potentially be a fly in the ointment, while Dawn Shadow already holds Barra from a previous encounter and is taken as the best of the rest.
  1. Karalee
  2. Lesley Dawn
  3. Dawn Shadow
