Three-time winner over hurdles but not especially well treated from 6lb higher than his last win. Stiff test under top weight.
On a long losing run over hurdles and is 0-13 in this sphere - others look far more convincing on these terms.
Not been seen much since winning at Clonmel in May 2015 - three starts this winter have been poor efforts and hardly endorsements that he's about to recapture his best just yet. Others readily preferred.
Has ability and would have place claims if able to repeat the effort he posted to finish second at Clonmel in September. His inconsistency is off-putting, though, and likely others will be a tad more determined.
Winner on heavy ground on his penultimate start but undone by slopping jumping and a 4lb higher mark last time. Now has a bit to prove but would be suited by any rain, so may well have conditions to suit. Worth a betting check.
Won over 3m at Warwick in March but not in the same frame of mind in his only start since. Is open to improvement and feasible he's been freshened up by switching yards. Still, enough chinks in the armour to have reservations for win only purposes.
Place claims on the pick of his chasing form but found out by the drop back to 2m latest and this trip also looks shy of his best. Plenty to prove.
Posted a bit of bolt from the blue to win at Cork last time out (SP 28/1) but rallied gamely and could easily be a player in this company if able to dish out a repeat dose. Consistency isn't his forte, though, and he comes with risks attached.
Already had a good spell this winter and looks one of the more likely types in a moderate event such as this. Ground conditions ought to suit and the veteran may be well teach a few of the rest a lesson in resilience.
Lightly raced and not really shown much to get the pulse racing. Does represent a very shrewd operation, though, and would have to be of interest if he attracts support in the betting from a lowly mark on his handicap debut.
Form figures tell a lot and his poor recent completion rate suggests it's going to be safe to look elsewhere for the winner on this occasion.
Forecasts
Fiddlers Bow (7/2), Hard Bought (11/2), Shrewdoperator (6/1), All The Chimneys (13/2), Bandon Bridge (13/2), Surrogate Lad (15/2), Tomcoole Lad (8/1), Patsio (12/1), Who's Cross (16/1), Killare Castle (25/1), Bridies Boy (25/1)
Another modest event which may be within the capabilities of the 13-year-old TOMCOOLE LAD, who will more than likely have the race run to his liking on ground which suits him ideally. Bandon Bridge is a risky option for win only but, along with Shrewdopeerator, could make a fist of it for the place money if digging in with a sound run today.
- Tomcoole Lad
- Bandon Bridge
- Shrewdoperator
