Left Roger Charlton for £8,000 earlier this month, and this debut Bath scorer (June 2016) makes her stable debut from a much reduced handicap mark (fallen 16lb in 14 months).

A narrow winner off this mark at Wolverhampton in March (6f), but that form isn't the strongest on offer. Doesn't appear to have stayed the 7f trip on his two starts here this month.

Reliable at this track, and shed the maiden tag when winning an apprentices handicap over C&D last month. Backed that up with a good run behind Breathoffreshair over 7f next time and can be excused his latest more moderate effort (Southwell).

An 11 race maiden who finished a detached last of six in a Chelmsford claimer last week (6f). Makes her Newcastle debut, but hard to enthuse over based upon her most recent efforts.

A 7f Epsom maiden winner for Charlie Appleby (September 2016), but hasn't delivered the goods for this trainer since costing £27,000 in January. Fallen 16lb since August and should make an impression eventually.

Made all when scoring at Chelmsford (6f) on her penultimate start, but was unable to repeat the trick off a 4lb higher mark at Kempton latest. Dropped 2lb and still lightly raced overall, but others appear stronger candidates.

A 5f winner for Andrew Balding in July 2016 (Sandown), but pretty much in steady decline since. Offered little in four starts for this trainer in Ireland (£13,000 purchase in August), so couldn't be recommended.

Off the track since winning over 6f at Yarmouth in July (beat Canadian Royal by a head), and has since left the care of David Brown. Up 4lb for his stable debut, and still unexposed. Handles Tapeta.

Little Miss Lola27
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: Jamie Gormley(5)| T: Miss L C Siddall| OR:  54| C
5/1
Didn't show masses of obvious ability for Alan Swinbank/Sally Haynes, but struck at the second attempt for this trainer when beating Bond Bombshell by ½L over 5f earlier this month. Up 2lb, and 1f in trip.

Breathoffreshairt6
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: J Fanning| T: R C Guest| OR:  53| CD
3/1
Fine stamp of a horse who is improving rapidly. Beat Kroy by ¾L over 7f here in early November, and followed up in style over C&D last week when downing Jessie Allan by 2L. Escapes a penalty, so still ahead of the handicapper.

Course winner in February (5f) from a 7lb higher mark, but more moderate since late May, and an absolute mountain to climb with Breathoffreshair on her last two starts.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Barry McHugh| T: N Wilson| OR:  48

Won just once in 15 starts (5f at Catterick in October), and hasn't set the world alight in three spins on the AW. Newcastle debut, but stamina looks questionable over 6f.

Naralsaifv27
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: P Mathers| T: D Shaw| OR:  45
16/1
A seven race maiden who produced her strongest showing over this trip at Doncaster in August (third at odds of 66/1). However, has plenty to find with Little Miss Lola on course form latest (5f), and a mark of just 45 looks accurate.

Fintry Flyerp75
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Phil Dennis(3)| T: J S Goldie| OR:  45
33/1
Compton Place filly who has failed to beat a single rival in four of her five career starts (5f to 6f). Half-sister to a couple of winners including the 81-rated Tommy G, but in truth looks to need divine intervention on her AW debut.

Forecasts

Breathoffreshair (3/1), Little Miss Lola (5/1), Kroy (11/2), Fikhaar (7/1), Yorkshire Rover (8/1), Dream Start (12/1), Santafiora (14/1), Naralsaif (16/1), Maldonado (16/1), Mr Enthusiastic (16/1), Night Law (16/1), Little Kingdom (25/1), Night Shadow (25/1), Fintry Flyer (33/1)

Verdict

BREATHOFFRESHAIR is a fine stamp of a horse, and has the appearance of a rapidly improving animal. He fended off Kroy when winning over 7f here earlier in the month, but looked even stronger still when dropped back to this trip in an apprentices handicap last Friday. He escapes a penalty for that very striking success, and has the able Joe Fanning in the saddle tonight as he makes a swift return to action still well ahead of his current handicap mark of just 53. He rates by far as the best bet on the card, and it will be a major surprise if he fails to land the hat-trick. Other horses to consider for the places include the returning Yarmouth winner Yorkshire Rover (stable debut), course 5f winner Little Miss Lola, Kroy, and at bigger prices the increasingly well handicapped pair Santafiora and Maldonado.
  1. Breathoffreshair
  2. Kroy
  3. Yorkshire Rover
