4/1
A six-race maiden on the Flat with no experience of AW racing, but no doubting his ability over hurdles with a rating of 127. Off the track since September 2016, so following the market looks the best advice with regards his chance.

A bit of a character who needs to be produced with his winning challenge as late as possible. However, he's now a three time 7f synthetics winner (including over C&D), and this race wouldn't be the strongest of contests.

Hasn't exactly progressed since making the switch from France, and you'd perhaps worry about his stamina over this stiff 7f. Falling sharply in the weights, so that's a bonus, but trying this trip looks like clutching at straws.

Has fallen 12lb in the weights for his last three (woeful) starts, and hasn't won a race since September 2015. However, there are some reasons to expect more, with first time cheek-pieces added for his synthetics debut.

Has started favourite in his last three races, and continues to knock on the door without making the breakthrough. Beaten just a neck and a head by Hidden Stash at Lingfield on Saturday (7f) and should be thereabouts.

26 race maiden who lacks consistency. Boasts outside claims on the pick of his course form (5f-6f), but on other occasions he looks truly devoid of ability. Opposed on the balance of probability let alone the 7f trip.

A winner over 5f here on her second career start back in September 2016 (maiden), but plenty of water has passed under the bridge since then. Races from a career low mark tonight (45), but has stamina to prove over 7f.

A 15 race maiden who made the frame for the first time over C&D earlier this month when beaten just under 1L by Breathoffreshair (winner since). Races from the same mark this evening, but with minor place claims at best.

Shown nothing at all in six career starts, and having raced just twice since June 2016, he finished a tailed off last of 13 over 1m2f at Beverley in September. The winner shouldn't be him on all known form.

Broke her duck over C&D in a maiden in November 2016, and to her credit had bits and pieces of placed form during October. However, disappointing latest and held by Lukoutoldmakezebak unless the first time visor sparks a revival.

Forecasts

Hisar (15/8), Western Way (4/1), Lukoutoldmakezebak (6/1), Lotara (7/1), Mr Potter (8/1), Tan (12/1), Vecheka (16/1), Taskeen (16/1), Peny Arcade (16/1), Shudbeme (33/1)

Verdict

Much like in the opening division half an hour earlier, quality is in rather short supply. The top-weight Western Way does have ability, but that has been displayed over hurdles, and he's tough to fancy after 14 months off the track unless the market speaks volumes. Mr Potter needs placed in front as late as possible, and his wide draw (one) might be helpful if he's dropped out last early. Taskeen is attractively weighted and holds valid reasons to expect an improved effort (AW debut in cheek-pieces), but it is Mick Appleby who again holds the strongest hand with HISAR. Whilst still a 15 race maiden, he is getting ever closer to breaking that duck, and in truth this contest will take very little winning.
  1. Hisar
  2. Taskeen
  3. Mr Potter
