Horse A-Z
Bumper/hurdle winner who led for a long way before fading out of contention in a much better race on chasing debut over 2m3f at Naas. Likely to be more effective against lesser company and dropped back in trip.

Bon Papa217

2/1
Out of his depth behind Willoughby Court at the Celtenham Festival, but the fact that his top stable deemed him good enough to go there suggests he is a leading contender at this level on debut over fences with his leading jockey on board.

5/1
Fair Flat performer and capable handicap hurdler. Tries his luck over fences at an early age and has to be afforded respect given his leading connections.

8/1
Not at his best when last seen over hurdles in the spring. Capable on his day, but this looks quite a tough ask on his chasing debut.

Scoir Mear18
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: L P Dempsey| T: T Mullins
10/1
Decent over hurdles, but has cut little ice in two beginners' chases. Would prefer a longer trip judged on his hurdling form.

Stand Up And Fight241
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mark Walsh| T: E Bolger| C
9/2
Achieved a fair level of form in five starts over hurdles and makes his chasing debut. Bred for the job, but his leading owner seems to have a stronger candidate in Bob Papa judged on jockey bookings.

Dakota Moirette47
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-4| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| CD
6/1
Finished a good seventh in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, but subsequent efforts proved disappointing. Makes his chase debut in receipt of weight and has to be considered for his leading stable.

Forecasts

Bon Papa (2/1), Stand Up And Fight (9/2), Light That (5/1), Dakota Moirette (6/1), Avenir D'Une Vie (15/2), Next Bend (8/1), Scoir Mear (10/1)

Verdict

Some top stables are represented in an interesting beginners' chase and Avenir D'une Vie looks the logical staring point after a promising debut over the bigger obstacles in a better contest at Naas. Light That, Stand Up And Fight and Dakota Moirette each have claims on their chasing debuts, but BON PAPA may be the one who makes most progress now he is switched to fences. He was highly tried last season and is clearly well regarded by his top stable.
  1. Bon Papa
  2. Avenir D'une Vie
  3. Dakota Moirette
