Found a weak claimer on the Flat in June to give him a bit of a confidence restorer, form over hurdles since mixed and yard form still a bit patchy but on a fair mark and chances in this if bouncing back to form in first-time tongue tie.
Off the mark over hurdles at Uttoxeter (2m, good to soft) at the fifth attempt last month, raised 8lb for that win but another good showing seems likely.
Fair sort on the AW in Flat career but modest ability shown in three starts over timber thus far. Drops in trip and hood added now though doesn't appear the most likely of winners in this contest.
Two wins in Ireland last year, though form started to tail off once handicapper got to grips. Well held at Navan in January on final start there, doesn't appear well treated on first run for this handler, but market check called for regardless.
Three-time winner over hurdles last season including over C&D in April. Not getting any younger but 1lb below previous winning mark and cannot be written off having shaped better at Wincanton four weeks ago.
Big prices in all three maiden/novice hurdles and was already backing out of things when making mistake two out on handicap bow at Newton Abbot (2m2½f, good to firm) in July. Needs to improve significantly off the break.
Has rediscovered his mojo lately, gaining first win since January 2016 over 2m2½f on soft ground here 19 days ago (all hurdles in back straight omitted). Previously had gone well over this trip in October and not discounted despite 6lb hike.
Average Flat performer and going the right way over timber in two starts. Decent start for top yard at Warwick (2m, soft) this month, could be capable of better now receiving weight all round on this handicap bow.
Forecasts
Padleyourowncanoe (7/4), Norse Light (3/1), Dusky Raider (6/1), Collodi (6/1), Thundering Home (15/2), Edvardo (16/1), Silver Quay (16/1), Kristjano (33/1)
Norse Light won here recently and is in good form, he can go well under a useful 6lb claim that gives him every chance while previous C&D winner Thundering Home shaped better at Wincanton last time and is on a workable mark. Dusky Raider upped his game to win at Uttoxeter and can get involved again despite an 8lb hike now but it may prove worthwhile to chance PADLEYYOUROWNCANOE on his handicap debut for Colin Tizzard. He made a fair start of the yard at Warwick and, as the youngster in the pack, gets weight all round in this finale.
- Padleyourowncanoe
- Norse Light
