Has jumped poorly on both starts and was in trouble long before losing his rider at Exeter. Difficult to fancy.

9/4
Placed in a Listed bumper and mid-division on hurdling debut in what looked a competitive contest. Stable have had five winners in the past week.
3
Horse silk
100/1
Tailed off on last start under rules and more recent form in point-to-points would indicate he is out of his depth in this.
4
Horse silk
66/1
Irish point-to-point form nothing special and last of seven in a Cork bumper last month. First run for new yard and best watched for now.
5

Farmer Lad176
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: C O'Farrell| T: N J Hawke
100/1
Soon in trouble on debut in a Newton Abbot bumper. Off the track almost six months and hard to fancy as a result.
6
Horse silk
80/1
Fair form in point-to-points in Ireland before joining current yard. Needs to improve significantly for his run in a bumper here two weeks ago to have any chance.

Kings Watchp1,t1941
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: L Heard| T: R J Price

Recorded a slow time when landing a Bitterley maiden point-to-point in April. Handles soft ground but it would be a surprise if he still proved good enough.

Mahari187
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: J E Moore| T: Kerry Lee
8/1
Useful Flat performer in France, left Andre Fabre for €280,000 before being gelded, and supported on hurdling debut in May. Pulled-up after bursting a blood vessel and definitely one to note if the market indicates those problems are behind him.
9
Horse silk
20/1
Winner and placed in AW bumpers at Lingfield before stepping up considerably in grade. Off the track 18 months prior to this hurdling debut with doubts regarding his wellbeing and ability to handle ground this soft.
10
Horse silk
11/1
Form of his point-to-point victory is unexciting but his previous second to the useful Willie Boy makes him more interesting. Unproven on ground this soft.

Horse silk
20/1
Cost £28,000 as a three-year-old by Shirocco out of an unraced dam. Stable have won three of the last six divisions of this event so one to keep an eye on.

Soldier Boy18
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: James Banks| T: F Brennan
150/1
Has shown little ability in two bumpers and both starts over hurdles. Has gone off at lengthy odds on each outing and likely to be friendless again.
13
Horse silk
150/1
Winning form at modest levels in point-to-points. Well held at triple digit odds on both starts under rules and faces another uphill task.

Western Ryder20
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex| BF| D
8/13
High class bumper horse who won a Listed race at Ascot before finishing fifth in Cheltenham champion bumper and third in the Aintree Grade One. Unnerved by another rival before unshipping his rider on hurdling debut. Stable in form.
15
Horse silk
250/1
Makes no appeal judged on form in point-to-points and bumpers. Tailed off here last time at odds of 200/1.

Forecasts

Western Ryder (8/13), Bang On Frankie (9/4), Mahari (8/1), Moving In Style (11/1), North West Wind (20/1), Manhattan Spring (20/1), Duhallow Lad (66/1), Itsamanslife (80/1), Bact To Black (100/1), Farmer Lad (100/1), Big Time Frank (100/1), Kings Watch (150/1), Soldier Boy (150/1), Sounds Of Italy (150/1), Jubilee Lass (250/1)

Verdict

Mahari's presence makes this a tricky contest as he performed at pattern level in France before fetching a princely sum to go hurdling. He burst a blood vessel when heftily supported for his hurdling debut and, assuming those issues have been dealt with, he has to be considered for this with his yard in such good form. WESTERN RYDER was top class in bumpers but had a poor experience on his hurdling debut. The yard's horses are going really well at present and he should take plenty of beating if coping better mentally this time. North West Wind represents a stable with a good record in this race and the in form Tizzard team saddle Bang On Frankie who should come on for his first start over timber. Point-to-point winner, Moving In Style, could be anything. However, a watching brief is advised having been kept to good ground in that sphere
  1. Western Ryder
  2. Bang On Frankie
  3. Mahari
