Form of her Wincanton victory amounts to little and she has more than her fair share of weight judged on that effort. Stable 10-25 in past fortnight and that makes her harder to ignore in company as modest as this.

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-12| J: Brendan Powell| T: A Stronge| OR:  99
40/1
Modest Flat handicapper but showed clear signs of ability in three novice hurdles and ought to be more of a force now handicapping. Off the track seven months and the market should be informative.

Scored for today's rider at Uttoxeter and has since finished second in a weak race at Hexham. New mark raises doubts but one of the few proven to be in good form. Can play up at the start and refused to race in July.

Beaten at least 40L in each of his three starts over timber. Looks high enough in the weights on that evidence and has fitness to prove after six months off.

Strong traveller who is suited by plenty of give. Has found little for pressure and stable's runners have been disappointing.
6
Horse silk
Kayf Charmer15
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: Conor Smith(5)| T: Miss L Blackford| OR:  93| CD
10/1
Winner of three races for this yard who normally improves considerably for her first run back from a layoff. Bounced back from a modest effort to spring a 20/1 surprise last December and just 2lb higher now.
7

Shroughmore Lass28
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: Jack Sherwood(3)| T: Henry Oliver| OR:  93
3/1
Placed form in three point-to-points and has improved with each run over hurdles. Suited to this ground and open to significant improvement now handicapping.
8
Horse silk
Boutanp22
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-5| J: L Heard| T: G Harris| OR:  92| C
14/1
Winner here on the Flat last year and showed signs that a change of scenery had helped when finishing in the middle of the pack over C&D three weeks ago. Worthy of consideration in a race as poor as this.

Irondale Express510
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: James Banks| T: F Brennan| OR:  90

Sole victory in 28 starts came in a 1m handicap on the Flat when the ground was soft. Off the track 18 months following distant thirds in two summer handicap hurdles.

Drewmain Legend29
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: Adam Wedge| T: A Stronge| OR:  89

Has failed to catch the eye in any of her five starts including her handicap debut a month ago.

Moontripper22
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-5| J: Ben Jones(7)| T: P C Dando| OR:  78

Chances on her Newton Abbot second on soft ground in June but makes little appeal based on what she has done since.
12
Horse silk
Oh Dear Oh Dear41
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: H Cobden| T: R J Hodges| OR:  64
16/1
12-race maiden who returned to the track after a four year sabbatical in May. Has failed to complete the course in two starts since and races from 9lb out of the handicap here.

Forecasts

Soiesauvage (5/2), Shroughmore Lass (3/1), Tangley (7/1), Moontripper (9/1), Kayf Charmer (10/1), Boutan (14/1), Oh Dear Oh Dear (16/1), Llantara (20/1), Sidbury Fair (20/1), Drewmain Legend (22/1), Hepburn (40/1), Irondale Express (50/1)

Verdict

There is little worthwhile form to work with in this with Tangley and Soiesauvage, the most recent winners, failing to appeal as being well handicapped. There are few unexposed types that have shown enough promise to suggest they are about to improve, the exception being SHROUGHMORE LASS. Henry Oliver's mare has good enough form in point-to-points to indicate she may be better than we have seen and that she is potentially well handicapped. She has improved with each run and was not that far behind Tangley last time on ground faster than ideal. Ffos Las winner Kayf Charmer and Boutan cannot be dismissed in this company judged on their best form.
  1. Shroughmore Lass
  2. Tangley
  3. Boutan
