Vado Forteh113
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-12| J: C Gethings| T: T Lacey| OR:  100
4/1
Pulled too hard in the lead to do himself justice last time out in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow. Now hooded for the first time in a bid to settle him and the switch to handicaps may well bring about some improvement; one to note for a market move.

Franz Klammer19
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr Charlie Davies(10)| T: C E Longsdon| OR:  100
10/1
Makes his handicap debut here having made little impact so far in bumpers and over hurdles but can't be ruled out here with this sphere looking to suit better. Can race freely though and will need to settle better than he has so far.
3

Sandy Coveb131
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: Fergus Gregory(8)| T: O Murphy| OR:  97
9/1
Form so far over hurdles can only be described as modest and hasn't really matched his far better Flat form over obstacles. Offered little in a Stratford handicap last time (raced off the pace) and more needed here but does come from a capable yard.

Maid Of Tuscanyp18
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: Philip Donovan(8)| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  96| D

Won over hurdles and in the Flat last year with the win in the former sphere coming in slightly better grade. Has looked out of sorts since rejoining this yard though (last hurdles win came for them) and best watched for now.

Windy Writert149
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: Killian Moore| T: S England| OR:  89
7/1
His mark continues to slide but he shows little sign of taking advantage despite being backed at long odds last time on his first run for this yard. Stable are capable of getting the best out of limited ability so not totally written off but care needed.
6
Horse silk
Hallingham20
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: Mitchell Bastyan| T: K O Cunningham-Brown| OR:  88| D
3/1
Ran some solid races on the Flat over the summer and returned to hurdles last time out with an equally sound effort. Would have a leading chance if reproducing that form from Fakenham and the jockey booking certainly takes the eye.
7
Horse silk
Honour A Promiseh1734
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-9| J: Max Kendrick(3)| T: P R Webber| OR:  83
40/1
Makes a belated return to the track having been absent for a fair while and was pulled-up in a Chepstow handicap hurdle when last seen. Hood goes on for the first-time but can only be advised as a watching brief for now.
8
Horse silk
Claude Carterp49
Age: 13|  Weight: 10-8| J: Kieron Edgar| T: A C Whillans| OR:  82| D
8/1
Veteran handicap hurdler who now struggles a little in handicap company with his two most recent wins coming in selling/claiming grade. On what he's shown of late he's likely to find this too tough and others appeal more.
9
Horse silk
Early Boy49
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-6| J: Jamie Bargary| T: A Crook| OR:  80
66/1
Lightly-raced on the Flat and over jumps when raced in France with limited success and has shown very little since racing in this country. Comes here on the back of being pulled-up over C&D and makes very little appeal.
10
Horse silk
Hey Bobt69
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-0| J: Callum Bewley| T: C Grant| OR:  72
9/1
Best summed up by his hurdles career record of 0/28 and he's flattered only to deceive on more than one occasion. Always looks a difficult and awkward ride and hard to see him breaking his maiden even in this modest affair.

Forecasts

Hallingham (3/1), Vado Forte (4/1), Windy Writer (7/1), Claude Carter (8/1), Maid Of Tuscany (17/2), Hey Bob (9/1), Sandy Cove (9/1), Franz Klammer (10/1), Honour A Promise (40/1), Early Boy (66/1)

Verdict

There are one or two interesting types that are making their handicap debuts in this and expected to improve for the move into this sphere such as Vado Forte and Franz Klammer but you would be taking a chance with either. HALLINGHAM looks to be the most solid option here with the very capable conditional Mitch Bastyan taking the ride as he bids to follow-up his Fakenham second on his last start. Sandy Cove can’t be totally written off coming from a yard which can improve horses with the blinkers going on for the first time.
  1. Hallingham
  2. Vado Forte
  3. Franz Klammer
