Proving a little better over fences than he was over hurdles. Broke his duck over a similar trip at Market Rasen two starts ago. Now 5lb higher and comfortably held from this mark at Kempton last time, but claims if back to form of his previous run.

Broke his duck in a Southwell maiden hurdle (1m7½f, good) in May and made his chase debut in the same race as Movie Legend last time at Kempton. With that under his belt you couldn't say that he won't bridge the 2½L gap between them here.

Has improved since joining this trainer, winning over C&D this time last year from 14lb lower and popping up at Fontwell in August and last month at Worcester from 9lb lower. Placed in a better race here last time, but this is more like his level.

Won a Bangor maiden hurdle (2m½f, good) in September by 9L but switched to chasing after one more run and was behind the top two on the card here at Kempton on debut last month. Probably a bit too much to find today.

Has been unable to add to his 2014 bumper success over either hurdles or fences. 5lb out of the handicap today, though couldn't totally rule him out if he could reproduce his Lingfield run from last December.

Forecasts

Movie Legend (5/2), Bach De Clermont (5/2), Land League (11/4), Mercian King (4/1), Chestnut Ben (5/1), Brother Bennett (25/1)

Verdict

An interesting way to wrap up the card and despite his advancing years the suggestion is to side with the prolific CHESTNUT BEN. True, others may have possible improvement in them that he has not, but what you get is a gelding who has trip and ground to suit and remains hugely competitive from this mark. Movie Legend would have strong claims if capable of reproducing the same level of form as when scoring two starts ago, but Bach De Clermont doesn't have a huge amount to find with him on their Kempton running and is not ruled out. Mercian King is also a potential danger at this more realistic level.
  1. Chestnut Ben
  2. Mercian King
  3. Movie Legend
