Has made steady improvements so far and got up close home to break his duck in a Kelso maiden hurdle (2m, good) last time. Shapes as though this longer trip will better suit him and will need further progress to back up that win under a penalty.

Made the frame in his only hurdles start a year ago (2m4f, soft), though beaten 17½L there. Has since been campaigned over staying trips on the Flat without winning, but putting in a couple of decent efforts on good to soft. Improvement needed.

Has shown very little so far in a couple of bumpers and also when beaten 73L here over C&D on his hurdling debut earlier in the month. Lots of improvement needed to figure and looks likely to be more interesting when handicapping.

Irish point-to-point winner who won at the first time of asking over hurdles at Market Rasen (2m4½f, good) last month, promising a fair bit more in the process. Should be capable of better and will stay further too, so is high up on the list.
Won an Irish maiden point-to-point on his second start about a year ago and changed hands for £50,000. Related to winners from this trip upwards. Should be able to find races in the future, though slight concern at current quiet spell for stable.

Dual bumper winner a couple of years ago for Seamus Durack. Made the frame in a couple of hurdles for Kim Bailey and matched his best effort on second run for this yard at Ayr (2m4½f, soft) last time. That is good form in context and he has claims.
Best effort so far was on debut in a Kelso bumper last year (2m, heavy) when with Nicky Richards. Off the track from March 2016 until recent comeback/stable debut here over C&D. Will need to improve plenty for that 61L defeat to figure.

Has already changed hands twice in a couple of years and this trainer has managed to eek out some improvement from him, though he has so far not threatened to win a race. Step up in trip not certain to suit, so has a fair bit to prove at present.

Best effort so far was on his second start in a Catterick bumper almost a year ago. Off the track since December when, on his hurdles debut, he crashed out at the last when tailed off. Plenty of work for him to do to get involved this time.

Runner-up three times in bumpers and ran to a similar level of form to those efforts when returning from a break to finish a 19½L fifith of 14 in his hurdles debut over C&D at the last meeting here. Entitled to improve for that and could go well.

Forecasts

Cabaret Queen (7/4), Nicely Indeed (9/4), Just Don't Ask (9/2), Wemyss Point (7/1), Temple Man (9/1), Aramist (28/1), Randy Pike (40/1), Russian Rascal (100/1), Teals Lad (100/1), Bertie Blake (200/1), Venturepredementia (200/1)

Verdict

Phil Kirby will fancy his chances of picking up some prize money here with both Nicely Indeed and Wemyss Point possessing the right sort of credentials to give them a squeak. Temple Man will need to improve on his Kelso effort to add another win, though that can't be ruled out, while Randy Pike will surely prove better than he let on last time. Nonetheless, the selection is CABARET QUEEN, who is taken to improve on her recent Market Rasen win and follow up.
  1. Cabaret Queen
  2. Nicely Indeed
  3. Temple Man
