In good form without winning of late, but has faced much stronger opposition than this. Ease in grade potentially the key for a confidence booster. Big chance.

Winner of a ladies race at Ascot in July but form dipped since switched to the AW afterwards. Rated much higher on turf but gone well here in the past, however, so no forlorn hope if he can keep focused for his 7lb claimer.

Won a Chester claimer in June but struggled when back in handicaps afterwards. Recent spin over hurdles uninspiring and looks one to be a tad wary of just now.

Lightly raced and has shown signs of ability so possible there is more to come at some stage. Disconcerting he drops to a claimer after just four career starts and he makes limited appeal for a punt.

Missed the majority of 2017 but did win at Kempton back in March. Has a bit to prove after two moderate efforts shortly after and might just need this after a lengthy absence during the summer.

Forecasts

Big Baz (2/5), Georgian Bay (3/1), Michele Strogoff (10/1), Just Surprise Me (20/1), Secret Lightning (100/1)

Verdict

Sometime an ease in the level of competition can rekindle the interest of horses such as BIG BAZ, who has been faced with a number of much stiffer tests than this of late. With wins at Kempton, Lingfield and Wolverhampton, Willie Muir's gelding has a good strike rate on the other AW tracks, and will take the beating if he adapts on his first visit to Chelmsford. Georgian Bay is the most likely candidate to pick up the pieces if the selection fails to deliver, while Michele Strogoff appeals more than the remainder as one for a shock result.
  1. Big Baz
  2. Georgian Bay
  3. Michele Strogoff
