Quick hat-trick landed in October 2015 now a distant memory but not won since. Just the one good run in seven starts this year when third at Newton Abbot. Shown very little in three starts since and looks up against it with welter burden.
Beat the re-opposing On Alberts Head last time out at Newton Abbot although that rival not really franked the form since and he was somewhat fortuitous that day with leader throwing it away at the last. 3m today an unknown quantity.
Left previous moderate seven runs behind when winning last time out at Bangor in a first time tongue tie. 7lb higher today but had a bit in hand there and respected with tongue tie possibly the answer.
Beaten 28L last time which was his narrowest defeat to date through six career starts. First time in a handicap here and upped dramatically in trip. No guarantees we will see better but not totally written off.
Threw away victory with a final flight blunder at Newton Abbot two starts back. Shade disappointing next twice and now upped in trip. Not one who fills you with confidence but ought to be competitive off this mark.
Only beaten 8L over C&D back in March and is 8lb lower here. Ordinary efforts in two starts this term including when pulled up latest but good ground may help and expecting better today.
First run this time of the Irish sea and could easily be involved. Ran well upped to 3m1f at Ballinrobe before a decent enough effort at 3m last time at Down Royal. Champion jockey up and wears a first time tongue-tie.
Over three years since his lone hurdles win. Had some fair form since especially last year and overall seems better over smaller jumps. Ran poorly here last time and needs plenty of cajoling in his races to stay in touch.
Four years have passed since he last won over hurdles but he is fully 23lb lower than that mark now and second of 14 on return over inadequate 2m4f suggests he is ready to make a bold bid here.
Fair hurdler on her day but generally more effective over shorter than this and vulnerable to younger horses off this mark.
Returned from 21 month absence last month when well beaten at Chepstow. Likely strip fitter for the run but he is a maiden on 16 races over hurdles so not expected to feature.
With this trainer for second time, his sixth stable change overall. Stopped rapidly on return last month at Huntingdon and now at this late stage in career he has a first time tongue-tie. Questions to answer.
Yet to make the frame in eight hurdle starts and last two starts in the summer saw a fall and a pulled up. Slightly better form over 2m so prolonged perseverance with this trip surprising. Hard to fancy.
Slightly better efforts of late as he takes advantage of falling handicap mark. Only beaten 5¼L when fourth of 23 over C&D latest. Rating stays the same here and could easily make the frame.
Forecasts
Red Admirable (7/2), Telmadela (7/2), Mountmellick Girl (9/2), Walter Oneeightone (7/1), Panis Angelicus (12/1), Ordensritter (12/1), On Alberts Head (14/1), Midnight Magic (20/1), The Greenvet (20/1), Royal Chief (20/1), Distant Sound (20/1), Love The Leader (25/1), Baccalaureate (50/1), My Diamond (66/1)
It may pay to chance former Irish based runner MOUNTMELLICK GIRL on her debut in England with the booking of the champion jockey a clear signal of intent. Also expected to play prominent roles are veteran Red Admirable who ran well on return and Walter Oneeightone who looked a different proposition last time out with the addition of a tongue-tie.
- Mountmellick Girl
- Red Admirable
- Walter Oneeightone
