Debut for a new yard after seemingly losing a bit of interest of late. Also untied on this surface, so not the most appealing option when the full picture come into focus.
Winner over 1m4f at Wolverhampton on penultimate start but ran no sort of race when attempting to follow at Redcar latest. That was an off-putting display and he makes limited appeal just now.
Claimed for £6,000 after finishing second in a Redcar seller latest, so obviously caught the eye as a fun horse for a race of this nature. lacks scope back in a handicap though as he has only limited previous AW experience.
A tough campaigner that can never be completely ruled out. He's back on a winning AW mark, so decent claims at the weight, but can be a law unto himself and a handful of poor efforts on turf need to be forgiven if wading in with support.
First two starts were highly encouraging and possible that he was in need of the run when he finished last at Kempton in October (first start since June). Impeccably bred and likely to thrive in handicaps; so very dangerous to underestimate.
Back to form since joining his current yard and was good value for his win at Newbury last week. The penalty makes it tougher but he's on a decent mark and, considering his yard's record with similar types, he has to be high on the shortlist.
Mixed form since winning a brace at Newcastle in March and the handicapper has been slow to react. Others preferred unless the market suggests he's been significantly underestimated.
No joy over hurdles but back with a bang on the Flat over C&D latest. carries 5lb more here, so stiffer test ahead; but has to be respected and can easily make the frame if on song.
Handicap form so far has been ordinary at best and he's got plenty to prove on these terms on his debut at Southwell. Others hold more attractive claims.
Likes this course but not particularly well handicapped and off putting that he weakened so tamely at Lingfield near the finish last time.
Would have decent claims on the best of his efforts but he's unpredictable and reverted to type at Redcar latest. He's off the same mark here and plenty to prove as a result.
Won on heavy over 1m4f but lost his way and has a bit to prove after a summer break. Likely this fellow with have a few obstacle to jump before long but this can at least open the tubes with a run for his jumps-orientated new yard.
Stays a bit further but ought to have no issues with the trip. Debut on fibresand more of a concern, while the betting can help determine which of the two stable's runners will carry more expectation. Risky option on these terms.
Forecasts
Topamichi (11/4), Mister Showman (4/1), Daily Trader (5/1), Deep Challenger (13/2), Assiduous (10/1), Good Time Ahead (14/1), Eyreborn (16/1), Young Tom (16/1), Tristram (16/1), Throckley (25/1), The Lock Master (25/1), Up Ten Down Two (40/1), Miningrocks (40/1)
The unexposed ASSIDUOUS won't need to improve too greatly to get his handicap career off to a flyer and he edges the nomination as the one to be on. Topamichi heads the list of dangers, while his stablemate, The Lock Master, is very capable of pulling something out of the fire if he's in the mood to do so. Up Ten Down Two is one to monitor for a speculative each-way punt.
