Only limited promise over hurdles but pedigree suggests he's screaming out for fences, so may leave previous form well behind. Seems to handle soft but yard form very patchy at present, which is a concern. Others preferred at this stage.

Greyed A33
Age: 6|  Weight: 12-0| J: R Johnson| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR:  107| CD

Not progressing over hurdles and in truth, has become a little disappointing (beaten favourite four out of last six runs). On the plus side, likes it here, trip fine and handles soft, so not out of this if jumping with some fluency.

Somewhere To Bep176
Age: 5|  Weight: 12-0| J: L P Aspell| T: M Keighley| OR:  107
14/1
Has always looked the sort to appreciate going over fences (well built, tall) and has been fairly highly tried over hurdles in the past year. Slight question mark over this trip but not out of this if fit for reappearance this year.

Horse silk
Tzar De L'Elfe246
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: A Glassonbury| T: R Rowe| OR:  105
50/1
Has some experience of fences in France, not shown too much so far but again, fences may well see him in a new light and this drop back in trip possibly no bad thing either. Market will guide, but another to consider in a tricky event.

Arden Denis248
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-10| J: T Scudamore| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  103| BF| D
11/2
Improved over hurdles at the end of last season, thrashing a moderate field at Wincanton and then running to similar mark at Hereford on final start. Mixed messages on pedigree as to whether fences will suit but is built for them, so not discounted.
6
Horse silk
Le Coeur Nett178
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-8| J: David Noonan| T: A J Honeyball| OR:  101
8/1
Was quietly fancied in three handicaps that he contested over hurdles, not disgraced but does need improvement for the switch to fences. Needs to show soft ground suits too and all in all, makes only limited appeal here.
7
Horse silk
Capsis Desbois16
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore| OR:  100
14/1
Showed some reasonable form in novice hurdles but it all went wrong when switched to handicaps afterwards, and he didn't complete in any of them. Needs to refind some form now switched to fences, but nicely handicapped if he can.
8
Horse silk
Deckers Delight260
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Jamie Bargary(3)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  100| BF
33/1
Back on last winning hurdles mark after a couple of moderate efforts, stays well in soft/heavy ground though and goes without headgear here (won without any) so has some things to make him look interesting if fit on reappearance.
9
Horse silk
Lake Field359
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  100
9/2
First run for new yard (who have hit form with a vengeance) and although became disappointing for previous trainer, not badly treated here and if new yard (1-8 over past year first time up with others castoffs) can turn him around, is of interest.
10
Horse silk
Kilinakin224
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: M Goldstein| T: Miss Z C Davison| OR:  93
9/1
Only low grade over hurdles but turned in best effort for a while on final start at Kempton in April. Is a 3m point-to-point winner in heavy ground, small yard's horses are going well, so could run well if ready to roll on reappearance.
11
Horse silk
Kavanaghs Corner564
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Conor Shoemark| T: Simon Earle| OR:  83
14/1
Only moderate over hurdles but did improve for the switch to fences on his final start of last season, which gives hope he may yet progress. Trip and ground both fine so is worth a glance in the market at the very least.
12
Horse silk
Subtle Soldier41
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-1| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  80
16/1
Has barely been sighted in five hurdles starts to date and although switched to fences today, and going into handicaps on a basement mark, only makes limited appeal.

Forecasts

Greyed A (3/1), Lake Field (9/2), Arden Denis (11/2), Beni Light (15/2), Le Coeur Net (8/1), Kilinakin (9/1), Somewhere To Be (14/1), Kavanaghs Corner (14/1), Capsis Desbois (14/1), Subtle Soldier (16/1), Deckers Delight (33/1), Tzar De L'Elfe (50/1)

Verdict

Plenty of these have something to prove, either in terms of wellbeing, trip or ground, and a chance is taken that LAKE FIELD can take this on his first run for Kim Bailey. He's certainly well enough treated if his new yard have found the key to him, and in a weak event, is worth a try. Kavanaghs Corner wouldn't be one for the mortgage either but he did better on his final start and could progress again. Deckers Delight and Killnakin are others worth a second look in a tricky event.
  1. Lake Field
  2. Kavanaghs Corner
  3. Deckers Delight
