100/1
Bumper winner at Punchestown (good) on debut 13 months ago but a bitter disappointment since over hurdles and, more recently, fences. Unseated at Thurles last time and doesn't inspire confidence.
2

Avenir D'Une Vie197
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: A E Lynch| T: H De Bromhead| C
20/1
Dual bumper winner for Willie Mullins, justified odds-on favouritism on hurdling debut for this yard a year ago but a huge disappointment in two better races last season. Reappears to go chasing now and is of obvious interest.
3
Horse silk
Bacardys197
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins
1/1
Smart in bumpers before winning two Grade 1 novice hurdles last season, most recently at the Punchestown Festival (good). Handles cut in the ground and is a hugely exciting prospect over fences. Looks the one to beat.
4

De Plotting Shed12
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott| BF| C| D
9/4
High-class hurdler who won four times and was placed in four Grade twos. Encouraging start over fences when finishing a 3L second behind Presenting Percy at Galway (2m6f, heavy) and is sure to come on for that experience. Respected.
5
Horse silk
100/1
Seventh of eight, beaten quite a long way, on his only start in a point to point and it was a similar story when switched to regulation fences at Wexford (heavy) last month. Hard to fancy.

Inch Rise261
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Phillip Enright| T: W J Burke
66/1
No success in point-to-points but did win a 3m maiden hurdle at Cork (heavy) in March '16 for her only win in 13 attempts. Not sighted since February, he makes a chasing debut this afternoon.
7
Horse silk
Jett266
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: R M Power| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  142
12/1
Hurdles winner who has shown plenty of ability at times over fences without managing to win a race from four attempts. A 142 rating entitles him to respect but needs to brush up his jumping.
8
Horse silk
Mossback208
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott
33/1
Bumper winner who has gone on to acquire a hurdles rating off 134 over hurdles, primarily on the back of a good win at Punchestown (2m4f, heavy). No margin for error as he makes a chasing debut.
9
Horse silk
O Ceallaigh23
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: K C Sexton| T: Peter Fahey| OR:  127
25/1
Maiden hurdler who has fared better over fences, placing on four occasions from only seven attempts. hat said, he took a step backwards when beaten around 18L at Fairyhouse last time and he is vulnerable to less exposed types.
10
Horse silk
Scoir Mear24
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: L P Dempsey| T: T Mullins
50/1
Improved performer over hurdles last winter, sampling success at Galway (2m5f, yielding) before ending the season on a low note. Poor chasing debut at Punchestown on his reappearance and best watched for now.
11
Horse silk
Snow Falcon28
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sean Flanagan| T: N Meade| C
4/1
Smart hurdler up to 3m at his best with a 157 rating and has been doing well on the Flat more recently. Handles testing conditions and very much one to note on his chasing bow, having reportedly schooled well.

That's A Wrap24
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mark Walsh| T: T Mullins
33/1
Notched a hat-trick of successes over hurdles in late 2016 (Galway, Navan and Leopardstown), but the handicapper got hold of him. Didn't look a chasing natural when putting in a mistake-strewn round of jumping on his first attempt.

Forecasts

Bacardys (1/1), De Plotting Shed (9/4), Snow Falcon (4/1), Jett (12/1), Avenir D'Une Vie (20/1), O Ceallaigh (25/1), Mossback (33/1), That's A Wrap (33/1), Scoir Mear (50/1), Inch Rise (66/1), Enduring Love (100/1), Arctic Light (100/1)

Verdict

A decent beginners chase in which Willie Mullins' unexposed Bacardys obviously takes the eye having signed off last season with a Grade 1 win at Punchestown. He looks the one to beat but, at the likely odds, it may just pay to take him on with the race-fit SNOW FALCON who boasts an even higher hurdles rating and who is reported by Noel Meade to have schooled brilliantly over the larger obstacles. De Potting Shed looks the pick of the remainder.
  1. Snow Falcon
  2. Bacardys
  3. De Plotting Shed
