Showed plenty of ability when third of 11 on debut over 6f at Nottingham last month, bred to be speedy and every chance of progress now.
Assertive gelding cost £6,500 as a yearling. Dam, winner up to 6f, including over 5f as a to-year-old. Yard's two-year-olds have been modest (12-221 so far).
Showed some level of ability in French maidens before relocating to this yard, will have to improve on British debut to land this.
Equiano colt bought for 40,000 gns at the breeze-up sales in May, fifth of nine in maiden at Salisbury (6f, soft) on debut in July and could be capable of improving on that effort.
Society Rock colt cost €3,000 as a yearling, related to useful 7f/1m winners Easter Mate and Saluti. Worth a market check on debut.
Havana Gold colt cost 22,000 gns yearling, before fetching £135,000 when picked up by these leading connections as a two-year-old. Nice mix of speed and stamina in pedigree and very much one to pay attention to on debut.
Invincible Spirit colt, cost 100,000 gns yearling, is bred to be decent and represents in-from Haggas team (also 24% with two-year-olds in 2017). Big show seems likely on debut.
Shamardal filly is a sister to useful winner up to 1m2f Frontispiece and also has enough speed influence on her page to suggest she'll handle this trip on debut in Royal silks.
Showcasing filly makes first appearance and pedigree hints that she'll be seen to best effect over a longer trip in time.
Improving in her five starts and settled for second in most recent outings at Catterick (7f, soft) and Leicester (6f, good to soft). Sets the standard but may be vulnerable to the newcomers.
Daughter of Kyllachy purchased for 28,000 gns at the sales in October last year, beat only the ambulance home on debut at Leicester (6f, good to soft) 12 days ago and has big task again on that evidence.
Forecasts
Al Asef (11/4), Raid (9/2), Lady Willpower (9/2), Hidden Affair (5/1), Yajooll (11/2), Azpeitia (9/1), Any Little Rhyme (12/1), Crystal Deauville (33/1), My Society (66/1), Assertainty (66/1), Scots Snap (100/1)
Lady Willpower sets the standard on form and has finished second in her two most recent outings. She'll give her running once more but might prove vulnerable yet again in maiden company. Al Asef made a pleasing debut at Nottingham last month over 6f when third and should be involved with likely improvement to come but, given the standard isn't an exacting one, it may prove wise to side with the Haggas newcomer YAJOOLL. The yard's juveniles have enjoyed a splendid year and this Invincible Spirit colt could prove more than able for a winning debut. Any support for fellow first-timer Raid in the Qatar Racing colours would be noted.
- Yajooll
- Al Asef
- Lady Willpower
