Classy individual in 2015 including when Listed-placed and a winner over 7f at Ascot, showed enough signs of well-being in two runs at the track last month off long layoff to command respect.

Four of five wins for this yard since leaving Sir Michael Stout have come over 7f, including last month at Musselburgh (rated 97) when looking as good as ever, excellent record on Town Moor boosts credentials still further.

13lb higher than his last win, at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) in July 2016 when with John Gosden. Runner-up in a Redcar Listed event last time (7f, good to soft) and a repeat effort should see him thereabouts again.

As good as ever just recently, landing competitive 7f handicaps at Ascot and York with surging late runs. Respected again despite the call for a likely career-best effort to bring up the hat-trick.

Lincoln winner over the mile here on reappearance in April, hasn't been able to add to that success over the summer but two most recent efforts, both over 1m at York and Leicester, have been positive steps. Soft ground may suit.

Enjoyed a good season in 2016 and holding his form well again this year, regaining winning habits at York (7f, good to soft) in July. No match for Muntadab at Musselburgh last time.

Produced an impressive display at York in May and earned some black type at Musselburgh when conditions would have been too quick. That has done little for her handicap mark but she is a tough filly who will give her best.

Two wins this season, both over 1m and including here in April, mixed with four very laboured efforts. Goes well in soft ground but hard to assess/trust based in and out season so far.

Poor on return from a break last month at York (1m, good), others have sounder claims on recent form and appears to be second string for the yard on jockey bookings.

Getting into the veteran stages of his career now but scored over C&D in August off a mark of 91 and could be on the premises again with a similar effort having gone ok in three starts since.

Has won twice over 6f here but is without a win this season and most of his efforts have lacked conviction. Others appeal more.

Landed a couple of handicaps in the summer, after which he struggled off higher marks. Again well held over 6f here last time and previous effort at Musselburgh leaves work to do with Muntadab.

Back-to-back spring successes at Ripon (1m/1m1f) seem as far away as ever now with form having tailed off markedly since. Hard to make case on tame efforts at Musselburgh and Leicester last month.

Yet to win this year but run some good races, including last time out second behind Muntadab at Musselburgh (beaten 1¼L). Mark untouched for that and should be capable of building on it.

Former Aidan O'Brien inmate has had a decent time of things on testing ground lately including a win over 7f on heavy going at Epsom in early October. Credible third over this trip at Newmarket since and respected again with conditions to suit.

Long time since he seen the winner's enclosure but remains a capable performer and wasn't beaten far in Ascot runs last month. More than 7L behind Muntadab at Musselburgh latest.

Gained first win for this yard at second attempt in 7f Leopardstown handicap a fortnight ago, this is a good deal tougher on paper and isn't getting a great deal on these terms.

Forecasts

Muntadab (6/1), Speculative Bid (7/1), Right Touch (7/1), London (7/1), Bravery (8/1), Get Knotted (8/1), Bertiewhittle (14/1), Heaven's Guest (14/1), Shady Mccoy (16/1), Mobsta (16/1), Beach Bar (20/1), Sea Fox (20/1), Hells Babe (25/1), Robero (25/1), Lord Of The Rock (25/1), Steel Train (28/1), Von Blucher (33/1), Siege Of Boston (33/1), Gurkha Friend (50/1)

Verdict

MUNTADAB comes here on the back of arguably a career-best when scoring at Musselburgh last time out and a return to this venue should suit perfectly. He has not finished out of first two in four spins around this track, with two wins on his record and he should mount another bold bid. Right Touch chased him home last time in Scotland and is no forlorn hope to reverse that form on the revised terms now while the in-form Shady Mccoy also must rate high on any shortlist. Lincoln winner Bravery is threatening to get back on track lately while ex-Ballydoyle inmate London is also worth considering.
  1. Muntadab

  3. Shady Mccoy
