Has only seen the racecourse three times in the past two years and has not given the impression that he is as good as he had promised. However, his best effort so far was his chasing debut and if he could come up with a repeat he would have claims.
Got off the mark over fences at the ninth time of asking when scoring here over 2m4f (heavy) last month by a distance. Very respectable effort to be 3L third after an 18lb rise last time and again has claims from same mark now back up in trip.
13-race maiden who has run some decent races in defeat over hurdles and now goes chasing. Handicap mark looks stiff enough given his best hurdling form, but there may well be improvement in him now and a market check is suggested.
Sole success was on debut in a French bumper (1m5f, soft) in 2015 and his best British effort was on debut here in a Newbury bumper. Lost form when with Paul Nicholls and no better in two starts so far for this yard. Looks best watched at present.
Back to form here last time in a handicap hurdle (2m4f, soft). 4lb lower for this return to chasing, though 0-4 in this discipline so far and steps up to a trip that pedigree suggests will stretch his stamina. Possibly well in but a bit to prove.
Won a Cork handicap hurdle (3m, good) in May from a mark of 95 and ran to a similar level of form on only subsequent start. Makes his stable/chasing debut here and is in good hands to begin to show further progress. Market check suggested.
Improved with each outing for Chris Grant and proved that he gets beyond 3m when most recently seen in February. Now makes stable/chase debut for trainer who does well improving those from other yards. Would be no surprise to see a decent effort.
Best effort so far came on good ground at Uttoxeter in May (2m) over hurdles and may well have needed reappearance run. Now goes chasing and hope both in his pedigree and given his trainer that he can better show his capabilities.
Forecasts
Western Jo (9/4), Bitview Colin (7/2), Ronn The Conn (9/2), Jump For Dough (5/1), Dubai Devils (10/1), Iskabeg Lane (10/1), Teddy Tee (14/1), Cash Again (50/1)
Teddy Tree is clearly a little fragile, but if he could show his best form in this then he could have a big say. Even so, WESTERN JO has proved his wellbeing just lately and although beaten from this mark last time, he may not yet be exposed and could find a bit more for this return to 3m. Market checks are suggested with regard to Dubai Devils, Bitview Colin, Ronn The Conn and Jump For Dough and it would be no surprise if any of that quartet are heavily involved at the business end.
- Western Jo
- Jump For Dough
- Ronn The Conn
