Opened his account over fences at the second attempt when winning at Worcester (2m7f) in June. Came down here five out over 2m3½f last time and was far from spent at the time. Has raced mainly on good ground, so has a couple of points to prove.

Won two of his four novices' hurdles last year, including one here over 2m3½f (good to soft) on debut, before bettering that at Bangor in March. Looks to have potential for more now going chasing/stepped up in trip and likely to be tough to beat.

Stays 3m1f on soft ground over hurdles and now makes his chasing debut at a venue where his trainer often sends his more promising types. Has a bit to find with the others on his hurdles rating, but improvement not ruled out now tackling fences.

Forecasts

Some Invitation (10/11), Work Du Breteau (2/1), Very First Time (7/2)

Verdict

A small field but still an interesting contest in prospect and the suggestion is to side with SOME INVITATION on his debut over fences. Dan Skelton's raids here continue to pay off and this six-year-old looked a nice chasing type when twice winning over hurdles last season. Work Du Breteau is not ruled out with his claimer lightening the load and now back up in trip, while Very First Time is another to watch with interest on his chasing introduction.
