Wide margin winner here in March but that was a modest race in which he benefitted from a good tactical ride. Well beaten since and likely to need this on debut for new yard.

Had Motown Bob 25L behind when making all to land a Fairyhouse novice chase in January. Looks well handicapped and comes into this on the back of a Galway success back on the Flat three weeks ago.

His runner-up berth behind Alpha Des Obeaux a year ago would be the pick of the form by far in this. His latest efforts would not have anyone rushing out to back him but one to note if supported.

Ballela Boy40
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR:  119

A tendency to make mistakes has interrupted his progress in novice chases and this promises to be run at a decent pace.

Jumped well to land a Tipperary handicap in May. Probably not at his best over 3m three weeks later but has claims with the going and trip in his favour.

Coeur Joyeuxh,t23
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: L P Dempsey| T: J P Dempsey| OR:  116
4/1
Wide margin winner of a dire contest at Sligo but in contention before coming down at the last in better company three weeks ago. Usually in the shake up and weighted to do likewise once more.

Cheekpieces had a positive effect when landing a Navan handicap a year ago. Light raced since and pulled on last two starts. Has been given a break since and he could be the type best caught when fresh.

Had some useful form in novice company when last seen in 2014. Hard to see him being ready to mix it with these but worth watching with an eye to the future.

Motown Bob178
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: A E Lynch| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  113

Stable are going for a third successive victory in this with a 15-race maiden whose best effort came over these fences in December. Needs to bounce back from a dismal performance when last seen. Stable companion Tisamystery would be their main hope.

Rebelion Boyh,t33
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: M J Bolger| T: Mrs J Harrington| OR:  109

Fair hurdler who is yet to produce the same performance levels over fences. Would undoubtedly be well treated if getting his act together.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: P D Kennedy(3)| T: M Winters| OR:  112

Has not really taken to jumping fences and was a faller here in December. Arrives fit from the Flat but with plenty to prove.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-2| J: J J Slevin(3)| T: H De Bromhead| OR:  113| CD
9/2
Experienced chaser representing the yard that have taken the last two renewals of this. Goes well on this circuit and not unduly penalised for his latest victory. Best form has come on quicker ground and that has to be the concern here.

Forecasts

Laid Back Luke (11/4), Coeur Joyeux (4/1), Tisamystery (9/2), Ballela Boy (8/1), Cahirconree (10/1), Goulane Chosen (11/1), Motown Bob (11/1), After Aspen (16/1), Golanbrook (16/1), Round Tower (20/1), Theos Well (50/1), Rebelion Boy (50/1)

Verdict

Most of these come with risks attached. Cahirconree has claims on his first run back from a summer break. He was in good form back in the spring and a reproduction of his Tipperary form would be good enough. Coeur Joyeux is hard to win with, but should be thereabouts, whilst Round Tower has claims if back to his best and supported accordingly. LAID BACK LUKE arrives fresh from a recent win on the Flat and having the clear measure of Motown Bob judged on his novice victory in January. Tisamystery is the most experienced of these but is hard to recommend on this ground and Ballela Boy needs to jump more fluently.
  1. Laid Back Luke
  2. Cahirconree
  3. Coeur Joyeux
