Eight-time winner has struggled since 5lb rise for summer win at the Curragh. Unplaced in four starts since and last two below par so surprising handicapper yet to relent.
Has a good record here having won three of seven. 2L fourth over C&D latest and has each-way claims off the same mark.
Veteran of 139 races is seeking career win number 20. Lower mark on AW probably more winnable than current turf rating and remains in good form so no surprise if he makes a bold bid.
Veteran hasn't run particularly well in his last four starts. Has a good record here and not ran on AW for a while but recent form still a concern.
Seven of his eight career wins have come here, most recent of them was in March. 4lb higher at the minute but still competitive as shown when 2L 7th last time.
Fallen to a dangerous mark after a largely disappointing season although she showed ability remains when 2¼L third of 13 at Leopardstown two starts ago before a disappointing effort at same venue.
Deservedly got off the mark last time after several good efforts. Up 4lb now and had a layoff so questions to answer particularly given this her AW debut.
23 per cent strike rate on AW although only eighth on surface in last two runs. Looks like she is high enough in the weights on current from.
Lone win came in January 2016 for Ed Dunlop. Handicap unchanged in six races to date for current yard due to being largely competitive. Latest run can be forgotten due to heavy ground so she is capable of another good run.
Seven career wins all come on turf and not run on AW since 2014. Ran some decent races without success in 2017 but doesn't quite look force of old.
3L fifth over C&D latest and relieved of 2lb today so could be involved but best form over extended mile at Wolverhampton so will be doing best work late.
Never won on AW but ran best race to date on surface over 6f here last week when beaten just ½ into third of 14. 2lb higher today but this trip will suit so given a shout off bottom weight.
Forecasts
Rose Anjou (5/1), Try Again (5/1), Timia (11/2), Bluesbreaker (7/1), Society Ranger (8/1), Lake George (8/1), Bubbly Bellini (9/1), Shabra Emperor (12/1), Captain Cullen (14/1), Burren View Lady (16/1), Victorious Secret (20/1), An Saighdiur (20/1)
In a wide-open contest it may be worth chancing SHABRA EMPEROR. It would be hard to describe him as well handicapped but he loves it round here and he is running well enough to expect another good showing. Ten-year old Bubbly Bellini retains his zest for racing and has a more appealing mark on AW so it would be no surprise if he is in the thick of things. Bottom weight Bluesbreaker ran better last time and could go close if the race is run to suit.
- Shabra Emperor
- Bubbly Bellini
- Bluesbreaker
