Unraced gelding by Motivator made belated debut last month when tailed off at Southwell. Impossible to fancy.
Now a maiden of twenty races and can't see he will be changing that any time soon based on recent efforts.
Placed in seven of his ten starts so certainly knocking on the door and was again second last time out on the AW at Newcastle. Should go well once more if he handles softer conditions than he has previously experienced.
Debutant by Bated Breath cost 30,000gns as a foal but only £14,000 as a two-year old. Half brother to three winners including St Leger winner Harbour Law so future likely over longer trips.
Third on the AW at Newcastle last time, a head behind Arnarson. Both looked like they would be as effective over 7f today so the pair are tough to split.
Well beaten in three maidens to date. Up to 7f today for first time but pedigree suggests it is more in hope than expectation. Hard to make a case for.
Four second places feature among his 15 starts to date but he was well beaten in both previous attempts at beyond 6f and looked a non-stayer on each occasion so trip here a big concern.
French import has had two starts for new yard, running well in each. Collared late over 7f at Catterick before finishing third here over 6f last time out. Flat 7f should be ideal and looks a leading contender.
Gelding by Power was in rear throughout when ninth of 11 on debut here over 6f just over a week ago. Stable jockey prefers Vive La Difference
Placed in all three starts for current yard and little doubt she will be winning soon. Beaten a short head over 6f at Windsor last time and looks to be one of the main protagonists here.
Debutant represents top connections and cost 50,000gns at the Newmarket July sales. By Dubawi out of a well related 7f winner, she could go well first time out.
Managed four placed efforts in 13 starts at up to 1m2f. Ran a sound enough race again last time but would need to improve to get off the mark which appears unlikely at this stage.
Forecasts
Straight Away (6/4), Holiday Girl (11/4), Vive La Difference (4/1), Twiggy (8/1), Pudding Chare (10/1), Arnarson (25/1), Vintage Dream (40/1), Mighty Bond (40/1), Flying Raconteur (50/1), Wind Turbine (100/1), Swing Time (200/1), Got My Mojo (250/1)
After three good runs for Eve Johnson Houghton this looks a good opportunity for HOLIDAY GIRL to get off the mark after narrowly missing last time. Vive La Difference has looked capable of winning such a contest in two starts for Tim Easterby and the closely matched Arnarson and Pudding Chare are also on the shortlist.
- Holiday Girl
- Vive La Difference
- Arnarson
