Won one of nine starts, that a 1m2f maiden here. Generally campaigned at 1m4f lately but looked a non-stayer in lone previous try at this trip so that a big concern particularly with testing ground expected.
Threw away the chance to land a quick double when idling last time and getting beaten a short-head at Haydock (1m6f). Won at the same venue first time up to this trip time before. Handicap climbing but capable if he gets on with it.
Upped to this trip for first time latest when 3¼L fourth of nine at Nottingham. Led before being headed there but worth another crack at the trip. Still a maiden and yard in poor form of late.
Won twice in quick succession on the AW in the summer but handicapper held sway since. Best turf efforts so far last twice including over C&D latest. 2lb higher today but not dismissed in an open looking contest.
Gained first career win last time out over 1m4f at Pontefract. Tried this trip for first time before that at Catterick when fifth of seven. 5lb rise is likely to make things tough for him here.
Lone win came over 2m in August on heavy ground. Not disgraced since over slightly shorter trips but now 12lb above that winning mark and this easy 1m6f may not play to his strengths.
Gained second career win on AW last time at Newcastle over 1m4½f. Yet to win on turf and upped to 1m6f for first time here. Generally struggled on soft going in the past.
Maiden of ten starts although she was second for the third time last time out over 1m5f on heavy ground. Looked like she would be better still over today's trip but 1lb higher and more needed.
Maiden who finished fourth in first start for this yard last time out. Not badly handicapped now but trainer has had a very tough year.
Forecasts
Sheriff Garrett (9/2), Silver Link (9/2), Bodacious Name (9/2), Redicean (6/1), Eyreborn (7/1), Nordic Combined (15/2), Cornerstone Lad (17/2), Theglasgowwarrior (12/1), Good Time Ahead (28/1)
It is worth chancing the quirky but talented NORDIC COMBINED who is clearly in good order at present. The later Tom Eaves can deliver him the better. Sheriff Garrett is yet to win on turf but has suggested he should end that before long in recent runs and he enters calculations here. Bodacious Name has been running pretty well of late and will try to use his trump card of stamina to good effect.
- Nordic Combined
- Sheriff Garrett
