Showed some very sound bumper form winning two of his fours tarts in that sphere and put up a decent run when a 50/1 chance at the Festival in the Champion Bumper. Now starts his hurdles career and an interesting newcomer.

Failed to win in bumpers but showed some fair form in that sphere when with Gordon Elliott running his best race last time at Worcester (conceded first run). Now starts out his hurdling career for a yard that have made a promising start.
Well held on his only bumper start and didn't show much more on his Perth hurdling debut in September although he may well have needed the run. Reported to have lost a shoe on that run but still has a lot to do here.

Gained a couple of placed efforts in nine Irish point-to-points even a repeat of his best form wouldn't be good enough to make his mark here.

Should enter calculations here based on his second in a Warwick bumper in April with that form having been franked by the third.

Needs to learn to settle better but actually did well to finish second on his Hexham hurdles debut having set a very strong pace over 2m4f. Should be suited by this drop in trip and will be dangerous if he gets a soft lead here.

Winner of a Sedgefield bumper when with Brian Ellison he was sold fairly cheaply out of that yard after disappointing on his next outing. There was some slight promise in his stable/hurdles debut but does need to settle better.

Forecasts

Better Getalong (8/13), Saint Freule (11/4), Pat's Pearl (8/1), Quick Pick (11/1), Captiva Island (12/1), The Linksman (33/1), Graystown (100/1), Chasseur De Tete (150/1)

Verdict

This looks to be a good opportunity for BETTER GETALONG to open his hurdles account having shown some good form in bumpers. Saint Freule may give him a test though especially if he gets in a soft lead over this shorter trip. Quick Pick enters the equation having shown up well in a bumper with Captiva Island worth noting in the market given his connections.
  1. Better Getalong
  2. Saint Freule
  3. Quick Pick
