Running consistent races this season without getting head in front including last time out when fifth of 20 beaten 1L here last month and cannot be ruled out with certainty.
Successful on each of his first two outings for this yard earlier this year beaten favourite last time out when second of 13 at the Curragh last month. One for the shortlist.
Winner at Tipperary (1m1f, good) in June and a couple of sound efforts since have been over-shadowed by two below-par performances. Tough ask and other preferred.
Has been mixing hurdles with Flat runs over the summer. Finished fifth of seven beaten 8L last time out at Limerick but has been hit with a 3lb rise. Looks a tall order.
Solid and consistent on the Flat over the summer improving 12lb over the period. Third of 10 last time out in Naas handicap on soft ground over 1m2f. Not to be underestimated.
6lb higher than when narrowly winning Fairyhouse handicap over this trip in July, well beaten off at York next time out before beaten just 1½L when eighth of 20 last time out here over 1m5f. Worth a market check.
Winner over 1m2f last time out in a Fairyhouse handicap on soft to heavy. Up 10lb for that effort and more needed here though market likely to reveal expectations.
Not at his best on the Flat since returning from a break recently including an 11L defeat at Navan last time out earlier this month. May find this tough.
Last run in Irish Cesarewitch can be dismissed with the ½L defeat here last month is a more true reflection of chances in this contest.
Has generally struggled since winning a Killarney handicap over 1m3f including a 15L defeat last time out at Listowel last month. Tough ask and others preferred.
128-rated hurdler is one from one on the Flat winning a Navan maiden last October over 2m. Hard to fancy.
Produced a deserved win last time out when beating 13 rivals in a Killarney handicap over 1m6f and raised 10lb for his efforts and of interest in first-time cheekpieces.
Classy 143-rated hurdler who makes his Flat handicap debut here. Market likely to reveal expectations for inform stable.
Bumper winner over 2m in March on debut, generally disappointed in three recent Flat runs and must progress to play a role here.
The last of five starts in July looked as though there was too much being asked of the gelding when finishing sixth of 12 beaten over 10L. Better on return recently here when third of 20 beaten 1½L. One for the shortlist.
Last seen tailed of 12 months ago in the Group 3 Weld stakes at the Curragh. Tough ask on return and others hold stronger profiles.
Forecasts
Ex Patriot (4/1), Mawaany (5/1), Wonder Laish (11/2), Tudor City (6/1), Le Vagabond (9/1), Fiesole (10/1), Emperor Waltz (10/1), Slaney Street (12/1), Landsman (14/1), Artful Artist (16/1), High Tide (20/1), She's A Star (25/1), Dalton Highway (33/1), Cirin Toinne (33/1), Rashaan (33/1), Famous Milly (40/1)
The Jim Bolger pair Cirin Toinne and Slaney Street both like to get on with things and are likely to cut out the early lead in this contest. Tudor City, Mawaany and the Joseph O'Brien-trained High Tide can give a good account of themselves while preference is for classy hurdler EX PATRIOT who looks on a lenient mark on handicap debut.
- Ex Patriot
- Mawaany
- High Tide
