High-class sprinter in his prime and although not as good as he was, his recent third of 12 over C&D suggested he may not have stopped winning. Handles this type of ground and is one for the short list.
Regular visitor to Great Britain whose only win in 28 starts came way back in April, 2015. Has not been running badly recently and is down to a feasible mark, but his inability to get his head in front is offputting.
Good strike rate of thee wins from eight starts, but has been well held on her last three starts. Looks a shade too high in the weights, but a first-time hood may eke out some improvement.
Well beaten on his last two starts, but had previously been running well, including when winning two sprint handicaps at the Curragh. Needs to bounce back in first-time blinkers.
Off the mark in a 7f Dundalk maiden in May, but is effective at this distance and ran well in a first-time visor at the Curragh last time. Can go well off 1lb lower.
Showed he can handle this type of ground when landing a 1m Listowel maiden two starts ago. Well held last time and has questions to answer stepping back in trip in handicap company for the first time.
Both his wins have been achieved over 1m at Leopardstown and all his racing has been done at that distance or further. Top trainer drops him markedly in trip, and he has to prove he has the speed to cope.
Won twice in August, but the handicapper had his say and he has found it tough going since then. May need to drop in the weights, but his rider's claim should help.
Veteran of 138 races, winning 19 of them, the most recent coming at Fairyhouse last month. Has struggled off higher marks on his last two starts and the handicapper may have his measure for the time being.
Indicated his well being when a strong-finishing second over 7f at Dundalk last time. Has to cope with a 3lb rise and drop back in trip, but both factors are manageable and he is not without a chance.
Won over C&D in May, but that was on good to firm and ground conditions this time will be very different. Has been dropped 8lb since his handicap debut and is worth a second look.
Failed to land a blow in a 6f handicap at Fairyhouse yesterday, Runs off the same mark and will need to show much more if given the all-clear to take her chance.
Forecasts
Taexali (9/2), Ma Fee Heela (11/2), Maarek (6/1), Auckland (8/1), Bubbly Bellini (8/1), Magic Bear (8/1), Kupa River (10/1), Mo Henry (10/1), Ducky Mallon (12/1), Prove The Point (12/1), Rattling Jewel (14/1), Dierama (20/1)
Auckland is a fascinating contender dropped markedly in trip, while Mo Henry ran well over 1f further last time and has sound claims. The choice, though, is top-weight MAAREK, who showed the fire still burns when third over C&D last time and has a class advantage over his rivals. Dierama has slipped to an appealing mark and is another to consider.
- Maarek
- Mo Henry
- Dierama
