Running well in the main since joining this stable including when finishing runner-up over 1m1f on good-to-soft ground here in August. Slightly disappointing last time but an interesting runner today.

Fair effort when 2L third of six over 1m1f here in August but well beaten since and and probably best watched despite a sliding handicap mark.

In good form recently and stepped up on a good second over 1m3f at Carlisle (heavy) when winning over 1m1f at Ayr (soft) last time out. Races off a 2lb higher mark today and every chance of her following up.

Fair efforts in maiden company at two but well beaten over 7f at Chepstow (good-to-soft) on last months seasonal debut. Interesting to see how he fares stepping up in trip on handicap debut.

Finished a decent second in an amateur riders event over this trip at Brighton (good) in September prior to going one better over the same C&D a fortnight later. Disappointed off this 4lb higher mark last time but not written off just yet.

Return to form when third over 1m2f at Brighton (good-to-soft) and went two better over the same C&D on soft ground last week. Carries a penalty for that success and is one for the shortlist today.

Verdict

SUSSEX GIRL broke her maiden at the eighth attempt last time out and she can follow up by taking this competitive looking handicap under a penalty. The selection is proven on soft ground and with today's 1m2f trip also suiting she can get the better of Rubis, a versatile individual who is proven over further and was successful over 1m1f earlier this month. Longside has won and placed twice at this course in the past and while he's unproven on soft ground he runs well at this track and can finish third today.
  1. Sussex Girl
  2. Rubis
  3. Longside
