Hard to win with (just 6 wins from 57 starts) but has plenty of form here and is effective at both 5 and 6 furlongs. Not doing much at present but switch back to a track she likes may help, although yard still struggling for form at present.
Handicap mark continues to fall after a series of moderate efforts, but in mitigation showed good speed at Pontefract last time and heavy ground probably no help. Related to an A/W winner though, so might appreciate this surface, and not ruled out.
Went very close over C&D back in May, her best effort this season and a reproduction of that takes her very close. Not disgraced over C&D last time out either and looks one of the more likely ones here.
Gets a 2lb rise for his short-head second over C&D last time out but that still leaves him on a good mark compared to turf form, and showed this surface holds no fears either. Looks likely to progress again and must be one of the main contenders.
Chucked in off this mark on the best of his form and new yard look to be coaxing him back to form if his latest fourth over C&D here is anything to go by. Good apprentice booked again and he looks about ready to strike.
Generally progressive this term, if hard to win with, but latest effort at Goodwood, when last of nine, needs forgiving if he's to hold his best chance here. Others make more appeal.
Another that's well handicapped on the best of his form, and although there's no win on the board since June 2016 he almost always runs his race here and has every chance of hitting the places, at worst. Stall 1 no great help, though.
Poor strike rate but has won this year, and has also gone close over this C&D in the past. Good effort at Pontefract in September but only highlighted his inconsistency with a below-par one at Nottingham last time. Others make more appeal.
In cracking form at present and has rattled off back-to-back wins at Catterick recently. Drop back to 5f here no issue and has form at the track, but this is tougher so may need a bit more from a 2lb higher mark.
Handicapper slow to relent after a rather hit-and-miss season but now 1lb lower than C&D win here last year, so no qualms on that score, but others come here with better profiles and on that, is passed over today.
Forecasts
Impart (7/2), Liquid (7/2), Duke Cosimo (7/2), Fruit Salad (7/1), Bondi Beach Boy (17/2), The Big Short (14/1), Indian Pursuit (16/1), Savannah Beau (20/1), Oriental Splendour (20/1), Fredricka (25/1)
The Big Short is likely to take these along but his recent efforts leave a bit to be desired, and preference in a tricky contest is for BONDI BEACH BOY, who seems to be running himself back into form and is well enough handicapped to take this. He was most eyecatching when a close fourth over C&D last time and can return to winning ways. Liquid may be best of the rest - he's improving and should have more to offer, with Fruit Salad, who likes it here, rounding out the places.
- Bondi Beach Boy
- Liquid
- Fruit Salad
