Delegator colt is the sole newcomer in this line-up, can be given some chance on paper though trainer is just 4-52 with two-year-olds in previous 12 months.

Exceed and Excel colt, cost €180,000 as a yearling. Last of six on debut at Newmarket (6f, good to soft) beaten nearly 8L, but there had been market support. Didn't progress over 7f on AW at Kempton, now drops in trip again. Not written off.

Has shown enough in three runs over this sort of trip so far to suggest he'll have a hand in the finish and entitled to do just that.

Didn't show much on debut in April at Beverley (5f, good to firm) and again poor at Pontefract last month (6f, heavy) having been gelded in between times. Watching brief for now.

Half-brother to three winners including a juvenile 7f winner and exceeded expectations when runner-up on debut at Haydock (6f, heavy) in a maiden. How strong that form is remains to be seen, with winner disappointing next time out.

Decent debut effort over 5f at Ripon (good) in August, just over 2L fifth of 11, though backwards step next time on soft at Beverley when weakening in the final two furlongs. Yard been quiet lately.

Evidence of two runs so far suggest the filly will be struggling here, though both runs at Carlisle (7f) and Haydock (6f) came on heavy going, so perhaps may do better on new surface.

Forecasts

Nicklaus (11/10), Saisons D'Or (2/1), National Anthem (4/1), Wrenthorpe (9/2), Enrolment (9/1), Becker (25/1), Watching Spirits (33/1), Shakiah (66/1)

Verdict

Not the most exciting crop of two-year-olds, even for the time of year. Nicklaus is clearly well thought of by connections and this expensive purchase is likely to see the penny drop soon, at which point he's likely to get off the mark in decent style. Saisons D'or looks to a decent benchmark on form and should be in the mix while Wrenthorpe could be capable of building on a debut second in a maiden at Haydock. ENROLMENT steps up in distance for this third effort and, while not as good at Beverley since, there was enough in her debut run at Ripon to suggest he can take close order here.
