Travelled well throughout, and won very easily by 7L over 1m5½f at Chelmsford on her penultimate start. Not able to follow up under a penalty, but possibly didn't stay 2m. Reassessed, and 12lb higher.

Lost a shoe on her handicap debut in deep ground at Haydock last month (heavily eased). Her form suggests that she needs a trip to be seen at her best, and is unexposed after just four starts. Makes her AW debut.

Beaten 1½L when third to the enterprisingly ridden Sileel over C&D last month (handicap debut). AW proven she looks just the type of filly to win races for her trainer during the winter months.

Has fallen in the weights since scoring over 1m2f here in September 2016 and now competes from an 8lb lower mark. Her recent form isn't overly competitive and she needs to decisively prove she stays. Her mark can be exploited in the weeks ahead.

A winner on Tapeta at Wolverhampton in April (maiden fillies), she's proved herself as a reliable AW performer since. Dead-heated for third behind Star Of Lombardy at Lingfield on Wednesday (1m4f).

Off the mark when ploughing through the Ffos Las mud to score by 14L in mid August (1m4f heavy). Whilst the third horse in that race has won since, the form is questionable overall. Up 9lb.

12 race maiden who has hit the frame on more than one occasion. Runner up over 7f here last year, and has tried much longer trips on her last couple of starts, but with her stamina proving inconclusive.

Forecasts

Stepney (5/4), Snowy Winter (5/1), Island Flame (11/2), Newt (7/1), Golden Set (8/1), Alfa Queen (9/1), Bianca Minola (9/1), Mistress Viz (20/1), Royal Icon (28/1)

Verdict

A couple of these fillies have been hit hard by the handicapper following wide margin successes, and they include Bianca Minola who made all to score by 14L at Ffos Las a couple of months back. She's respected with her young rider Kieran Shoemark flying at present, but it might not pay to take that heavy ground form at face value. Therefore, a clear preference is for the AW proven Chelmsford winner SNOWY WINTER. Archie Watson doesn't tend to travel his horses this far North all that often, but when he does they tend to be very competitive. His filly seemingly didn't stay 2m latest, but might well prove capable of defying a 12lb rise in the weights. Island Flame is one to note for the future over a shorter trip.
  1. Snowy Winter
  2. Alfa Queen
  3. Stepney
