Won a 1m2f Doncaster handicap off 2lb lower in June and has kept decent company since. However, 0 from 6 on the AW tempers any enthusiasm.
A five time winner on synthetics in 20 starts, but has left Gary Moore cheaply (£2,200) since winning over this trip at Lingfield in January. High in the weights and poor on last month's stable debut.
Beaten 1½L by Thomas Cranmer on his handicap debut at Musselburgh in June (1m good to firm) but hasn't quite fully built on that just yet. Should win races, and was spotted making good late progress at Pontefract latest. New trip tried.
Newbury winner for Ed Walker in June (1m4f good), and moved on for 28,000 gns the following month. However, dismal on his last two starts (both on the AW), and a shorter trip is now tried in order to build some momentum.
Knows his way round this track, being a dual C&D winner (also disqualified here in November). Falling back to a better mark after racing on turf and could step forward on his first AW start since May.
Not quite able to capitalise on being dropped into selling company at Redcar earlier this month when beaten 1L by Miningrocks, and it's a worry he doesn't win all that often, but well treated now, 7lb lower than when runner up at Epsom in August.
Well below his best, albeit in stronger company, since winning at Leicester in July (1m good to firm). However, back into the basement grade, upped in trip and appeared to handle this surface well on his debut in September 2016 (third over 7f).
Stablemate of Livella Fella. Now a twelve race maiden, but not disgraced in any of his three starts at this track, running as well as could be expected when fourth to the improving Pioneertown over 1m4f latest.
Not won since May 2016 (York), and has plunged a whopping 16lb in the weights since then. Finished last of 15 on her latest start at Beverley (1m½f soft) and never at her best on the AW previously.
Has looked regressive in the latter part of the season after a promising reappearance at Pontefract in April (6f good). Takes a significant hike up in trip tonight, and that's a concern, as is the first time application of both hood and tongue tie.
15 race maiden, but in fairness is less exposed on the AW after just a couple of starts. Perhaps didn't fully stay 1m4f here latest, but is fast running out of excuses.
Took a very winnable 1m2f Pontefract maiden handicap in July by a head from Akkadian Empire, and seemed re-invigorated for a switch to the AW at Wolverhampton latest (third). Not rock-solid, but suggests he has more to offer.
Had done all of his racing over shorter trips before being stepped up to 1m2f in a Leicester seller last week. Finished just over 2L third to Rita's Man.
11 race maiden, but with some form on synthetics. Finished a close up fourth to front runner Bahkit over C&D last month, and has a useful 3lb claimer booked tonight.
Forecasts
The Eagle's Nest (7/2), Somnambulist (7/2), Maraakib (8/1), Bollihope (8/1), Knightsbridge Liam (8/1), Mr C (12/1), Steccando (12/1), Valley of Rocks (14/1), Lil Sophella (20/1), Livella Fella (25/1), King's Coinage (33/1), Traveltalk (50/1), Sugar Beach (66/1), Etaad (80/1)
A low grade affair which doesn't appear quite as competitive as Division 1 half an hour earlier. Bollihope can be expected to be stronger switched back to the AW for the first time since May, whilst Maraakib should in theory be able to exploit his current mark, but unfortunately for his trainer David O'Meara he has forgotten how to win races. Mr C is relatively unexposed on synthetics and could have more to offer, as could Somnambulist who should be suited by this shorter trip. However, it is THE EAGLE'S NEST who gets a rather tentative vote. He has been sightly disappointing since a promising handicap debut at Musselburgh in June, but he's fallen a fraction in the weights, and his latest Pontefract effort implied that he would be suited by a longer trip.
- The Eagle's Nest
- Maraakib
- Bollihope
