Won his Irish point-to-point on a sound surface and gets similar conditions for the first time over fences. One of the few likely types in this whose mark is slipping to an attractive level.
Dual winning pointer who landed a gamble at Bangor on penultimate start. Had too much use made of him last time and cheekpieces go on. Looks held by Classic Jewel on running here in July.
Impressive winner of two races in similar grade including one over C&D. Has improved for a soft palate operation and a 7lb rise for his latest effort may underestimate him. The hat-trick looks on and in a race the stable landed in 2012.
Winner of a Cold Harbour point-to-point but has been last to complete the course in his four races under rules.
Winner of a similarly weak race over C&D in July when always travelling well to overcome a 10 month break. Had too much to do last time but this more galloping track will help.
Has two ways of running and has been pulled up on four of his last six starts. Now 14lb below the mark which brought him his last success in July 2016, but few would bank on him taking advantage.
Modest point-to-point form and limited ability shown so far under rules. Attracted plenty of money last time so is potentially better than we have seen.
2-17 record but more than three years since his last win and recent form does suggest a turnaround is near.
Winner of one of his 53 races over fences, and that was over C&D way back in May, 2014. Runs from 31lb out of the handicap and impossible to fancy.
Forecasts
Classic Jewel (9/4), Irish Octave (3/1), Dick Darsie (10/3), Packettotherafters (6/1), Brown Trix (6/1), Brown Revel (33/1), Trillerin Minella (50/1), Spanish Optimist (100/1), Flichity (100/1)
Irish Octave and Classic Jewel have C&D winning form and both remain feasibly treated in what appears an uncompetitive contest. DICK DARSIE is less exposed than most in this and lines up having been well supported in three of his four starts over fences. Conditions have probably been softer than ideal judged on his point-to-point exploits and a career low mark makes him worth selecting despite a seven month break.
- Dick Darsie
- Irish Octave
- Classic Jewel
