February foal. By Fastnet Rock out of a 1m-winning dam 1m who stayed further. Yard's newcomers always entitled to respect and this one is no exception.
No market confidence behind him over 6f at Kempton first time out when finishing a respectable sixth of 12. But, being an 80,000 gns son of Society Rock, there should be a fair bit more to come from him.
A 27,000 gns son of Rock of Gibraltar but was already gelded ahead of his debut and has shown little to enthuse about in two starts so far, including in a tongue-tie. Hard to fancy.
Cheapish purchase despite being related to plenty of winners and never able to land a blow on his debut over 5f at Pontefract on easy ground. Likely to do better here.
Epaulette colt, cost 25,000 gns as a foal and £52,000 as a yearling. Unfancied for his debut over 6f at Newbury but offered plenty to work on in finishing a never-nearer sixth behind Orange Suit. Shortlisted.
April foal. By Sepoy out of a dam who was an unraced half-sister to the smart sprinter Pivotal. A half-sister to three winners between 5f and 7f, so a fair bit to like on paper. Market will guide.
Half-sister to 1m winner Majorities but unfancied and soundly beaten in a minor event over C&D last month on her debut. Hard to believe she is the stable's best hope here.
Modest pedigree but belied odds of 250/1 when keeping on to finish a 2½L third behind Peace Trail in a minor event over C&D on her debut last month. Should only improve.
January foal. A filly by Showcasing out of a dam who won over 1m3f. Cost 20,000 gns and would of some interest if market vibes are positive.
Yard have a poor record with their juveniles and this one showed next to nothing at Ripon first time out, albeit on very soft ground. Best watched in the short-term.
Related to winners but sent off 100/1 first time out over 7f here in June and could beat only one home in a race won by Kit Marlowe. Subsequent absence suggests an issue but open to improvement.
Forecasts
Royal Residence (13/8), Enzo's Lad (2/1), Mountain Breath (4/1), Amadeus (10/1), Riverside Walk (20/1), La Cabana (25/1), Mystical Mac (50/1), Bucklow Brook (50/1), The Hoppings (100/1), Working Together (100/1), My Rock (100/1)
Unless Richard Fahey's newcomer Amadeus is above average, this looks an ideal opening for ROYAL RESIDENCE who offered plenty to work on when finishing a staying-on sixth in a decent-looking maiden at Newbury first time out. Mountain Breath made a mockery of her 250/1 price tag when third over C&D on her debut and is worthy of consideration on that, whilst it would be no surprise to see Enzo's Lad take a big leap forward from his underwhelming Kempton debut.
- Royal Residence
- Enzo's Lad
- Amadeus
