Made a reasonable start over fences when a 6L runner up to Tout Est Permis at Gowran Park last month (2m2f soft to heavy), and most likely well suited by this shorter trip. Obvious place prospects.

Won just once in ten starts over hurdles (2m Heavy at Thurles in February 2016) and steady but unspectacular in four attempts over fences. Back hurdling more latterly, and this is a tough task on these terms.

Coole Craft209
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Brian Hayes| T: R Donohoe| D
100/1
Finally off the mark over hurdles at Thurles in March (2m soft to heavy), but rated just 87 over timber and that sets him a mountain to climb on chasing debut.

A shock, but decisive 15L 50/1 winner of a maiden hurdle here in February (2m½f), but he hit the deck on his chasing debut at Galway last week.

Petit Mouchoir218
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: D N Russell| T: H De Bromhead| CD
8/13
Classy hurdler who never looked back after falling in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle, winning the Grade 1 Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown in January and finishing 7½L third to Buveur D'Air at Cheltenham in March. Much awaited chasing debut.

Scoir Mear172
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: L P Dempsey| T: T Mullins| BF
25/1
Improved performer over hurdles last winter, sampling success at Galway in October (2m5½f) before hitting the bar in valuable handicaps at Navan and Cork. Can make his mark over fences with time, but this is tough.

33/1
Kept busy over hurdles during the summer months after winning at Fairyhouse in April (2m6f good to yielding). Out of his depth when seventh to Bamako Moriviere and Tombstone on his recent chasing debut at Fairyhouse and a likely similar story today.

Sort It Out536
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mark Walsh| T: E P Harty| C| D
20/1
Proved himself as a talented handicap hurdler early in 2015 with big race success at Leopardstown in February (2m) and Punchestown in May (2m4f). Very lightly raced since and makes his chasing debut off an 18 month absence.

20/1
Notched a hat-trick of successes over hurdles in late 2016 (Galway, Navan and Leopardstown), but the handicapper just about managed to get hold of him by later in the season. Off since March, and now goes over fences for the first time.

Thirsty Work18
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: R M Power| T: Mrs J Harrington| D
33/1
A two time winner over hurdles (both 2m), who reached a peak rating of 126 over timber. Never involved on his recent chasing debut at Gowran Park, and no chance with Brelade on that evidence.

Mill Quest181
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: D E Splaine| T: T O'Brien
66/1
Her two hurdles successes (Cork and Listowel) came over longer trips than this and at a much lower level. Expected to struggle over 2m on her chasing debut.

Forecasts

Petit Mouchoir (8/13), Brelade (9/4), Burgas (8/1), That's A Wrap (20/1), Sort It Out (20/1), Scoir Mear (25/1), Kilfenora (33/1), Thirsty Work (33/1), Showem Silver (33/1), Mill Quest (66/1), Coole Craft (100/1)

Verdict

A race which revolves solely around the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle third PETIT MOUCHOIR. Granted a clear round on his chasing debut, this young and highly talented hurdler (2017 Irish Champion Hurdle winner) will be off the mark at the first time of asking with a plethora of exciting targets ahead. Put quite simply, he was streets ahead of this opposition over the smaller obstacles and should win with relative ease.
  1. Petit Mouchoir
  2. Sort It Out
  3. Brelade
