Posted a couple of strong efforts last month, and was off the mark over hurdles when successful at Gowran Park latest (2m soft/heavy). Going the right way and has a talented rider back on board today.

Finished five places behind Masterstonemason when seventh of 13 at Listowel on his most recent start, but had been in fair shape prior to that, beating today's rival by 6½L at Ballinrobe in June (2m1½f yielding).

Former Michael Bell inmate who was pulled up on hurdles debut at Listowel last month (always rear), and has plenty to do to reverse form with some of the likely market principals.

An 11 race maiden under all codes, but respectable since switched to hurdling with his best effort coming at Ballinrobe last month (2m½f soft/heavy) when 3L third to Foxy Lass.

By Void Du Nord out of a Maille Pistol mare and well related to the likes of Vroum Vroum Mag and Defi Du Seuill. Winner of a French province contest in April and an interesting purchase by J P McManus

Unraced gelding by Saddler Maker out of Joly Couer. Cost €130,000 as a juvenile, and is related to French winners Refik and Joly Berengere. Interesting that he now carries the JP McManus silks which are also worn by Espoir D'allen.

Rated in the mid 70's on the Flat (five race maiden). Formerly with Aidan O'Brien, but hasn't shown much since switched to this yard and upped in trip. Hurdles debut. Stamina a question.

Forged clear to take a moderate Down Royal maiden hurdle on her second start over timber in early September (2m yielding), but could only finish fifth on her next start at Listowel (Masterstonemason second). More to do.

Focus Wellt27
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-1| J: K J Brouder(7)| T: S Fahey
66/1
Moderate on the Flat (45 rated), and well beaten on her hurdles debut at Ballinrobe in September (2m½f soft to heavy).
Likes to race prominently, but has been found wanting late on in all of her starts over hurdles, and has something to find with the likes of Masterstonemason based upon those efforts.

Forecasts

Espoir D'allen (11/10), Minnie Dahill (5/1), Masterstonemason (6/1), Pronounced (6/1), Downtown Rebel (12/1), Joly Maker (16/1), Little Princess (20/1), Sao Paulo (33/1), Focus Well (66/1), Air Ministry (66/1)

Verdict

Masterstonemason is improving with experience and seemingly holds a few of these rivals, including Pronounced and Little Princess, so should surely be on the premises as he seeks to build upon his recent Gowran Park success. However, the most interesting pair are the recently acquired JP McManus owned recruits; Joly Maker and ESPOIR D'ALLEN. Barry Geraghty gets the leg up on the latter named, and this Void Du Nord gelding looks a most interesting recruit to hurdling after scoring on the Flat in the French Provinces at Lignieres in April for Mlle A-S Pacault.
  1. Espoir D'allen
  2. Masterstonemason
  3. Joly Maker
