Sea The Stars colt who cost €135,000 as a yearling and is a full-brother to Group 3 winner Raheen House. Not unbacked on debut at Newmarket, but was green and could finish only eighth of nine. Probably capable of much better.
Casamento colt who fetched €16,000 as a yearling and whose dam is from the same family as Oaks winner Lady Carla. Attractive enough pedigree and worth a market check on debut.
Well beaten in novice events at Chepstow and Newbury. Looks a long-term prospect for his leading jumps stable.
Not much to shout about in outings at Salisbury and Goodwod, but represents a canny yard and may be the sort to thrive once sent handicapping after this contest.
Lawman colt who is a half-brother to several winners including Listed-place Gemina. Needed the experience on debut at Salisbury and although likely to be wiser for the run, he may be one for next year.
Son of 2,000 Guineas winner Makfi who is a half-brother to 1m winner Topmeup. The market will be the best indicator to his prospects on debut.
Camelot colt who cost 100,000 gns as a yearling and whose dam is a sister to 1m4f AW winner Sea Change. Plenty of stamina in pedigree and may need this debut outing for top connections, but this is not a strong contest and he may be good enough.
Cost just 5,000 gns as a yearling, but that price increased to 35,000 gns earlier this year. Never a factor on debut at Kempton and may need more time for leading jumps yard.
Poet's Voice half-brother to a couple of winners over 7f. Last of eight on debut at Newmarket and although improvement is likely for top stable, he is best watched until showing more.
Forecasts
Blazing Tunder (9/4), Astrologist (3/1), Imaginative (7/2), Gendarme (8/1), Hilborough (16/1), Wilfred Owen (16/1), French Kiss (20/1), Safarhi (25/1), Boko Fittleworth (100/1)
This looks the weaker of the two divisions of the juvenile maiden and, unlike the first division, there is no stand-out candidate. Of those to have run, Astrologist may fare best despite a low-key debut, but the choice is IMAGINATIVE, who has a taking pedigree and is sure to have been well prepared by his top stable. Gendarme may make the frame.
- Imaginative
- Astrologist
- Gendarme
