Off almost three months but thrived on a busy winter on the AW last season so may have been saved for similar. Won off 1lb lower when last here so no surprise if he goes well first time back.

Looked a non-stayer at 7f here latest so reverts back to 6f. Competitive in all three starts off this mark since July win and no reason she won't be here.

Started this season off quite well but off since June so presumably had issues. Unplaced in two runs off this mark after winning at Goodwood so best watched on return.

A winner off a 3lb higher mark in February over 6f. Tried turf (ran poorly twice) and longer trips lately but could be well treated now back with optimal conditions. Blinkered for first time.

Only beaten 3¾L although 10th on return from 7 month layoff last time out. Eased 2lbs and potentially capable of first significant role in a handicap now.

Over a year since lone win but showed signs of a revival on occasions before disappointing run last time out. Now dropped to 1lb below last winning mark but would have to bounce back.

Ran close to best after year absence on recent return at Ascot. May have bounced when disappointing next at Bath. If he has left that behind he is a danger off 2lb lower.

Already with his fourth trainer but seems to have at least settled on this as his best distance. 2lb drop does little to enthuse after latest 7½L ninth at Wolverhampton.

Front-runner is still 2lb above last winning mark despite seven defeats. Remains a vulnerable target on this rating.

Largely uninspiring campaign over 7f and 1m. Back in trip and blinkers added for the first-time today but neither assured to have desired effect and others make more compelling cases.

Had a rough ride when last seen at Chelmsford. Eased 3lb here and races from 6lb below what he won off in June. A pound out of the handicap but clearly has a chance nonetheless.

Forecasts

Peter Park (4/1), Jumping Around (5/1), Monteamiata (11/2), Ferocity (13/2), Juan Horsepower (7/1), Alkashaaf (9/1), Swanton Blue (12/1), Soaring Spirits (14/1), Danecase (16/1), Father Mckenzie (16/1), Cat Silver (20/1)

Verdict

Despite being 1lb wrong at the weights SOARING SPIRITS has a real chance now dropped to this mark. He has won several times off significantly higher marks and is a past AW winner too. Off this mark, Alkashaaf merits respect now he is back to his favoured 6f on the AW and if the blinkers help he would have a good shout. One of the more intriguing runners is Peter Park who ran well in a decent race at Ascot on return before disappointing at Bath. If he bounces back he could prove well treated.
  1. Soaring Spirits
  2. Alkashaaf
  3. Peter Park
