Not a cheap purchase as he cost £140,000 as a four-year-old having won an Irish point-to-point on debut. His hurdles form was better than he showed in bumpers although still quite modest and he may well do better in this sphere; can race freely.
Has had a few chances over fences (0/5) but would have a chance here based on his run last time when taking second at Stratford off a break with a tongue-tie on for the first time. Does remain to be seen if he can back that run up though; form tailed off last year.
Off the mark at the 6th attempt over fences although he didn't have to improve much to do so when beating three rivals at Plumpton. Only given a 3lb rise for that win which looks fair but probably needs to improve again to follow-up.
Makes her chase debut having shown form over hurdles that would give her a chance here especially as she looks to have improvement left in her. Her hurdles win came over shorter but she looks to have the requisite stamina for this test.
Ran quite well off what looked to be a stiff mark on his handicap hurdles debut at Warwick (travelled better than usual). Didn't match that form afterwards though and ran a very moody race in April when last seen and now goes chasing for the first time.
His form showed a marked improvement when he got off the mark over hurdles in an amateur riders affair at Ludlow. Failed to build on that in two subsequent runs and has a bit to prove now going chasing off this mark.
Given what she has achieved over hurdles her mark looks a stiff one and she has made quite hard work of her hurdles outings. Dual winner in point-to-points so may well do better in this sphere and not out of this at all.
Forecasts
Bramble Brook (7/4), Maid Of Milan (5/1), Doitforjoe (5/1), Twist On Ginge (13/2), Daklondike (7/1), Thegirlfrommilan (8/1), Just Joelliott (12/1)
Bramble Brook looks the obvious one here given his run at Stratford last time out although he has disappointed after running well in the past and his form last year did tail off after a promising beginning. Daklondike needs to start repaying his purchase price and this may well be the sphere that sees him in a better light. Doitforjoe didn’t have to show much improvement to score last time out and whilst his 3lb rise isn’t at all excessive he does have to improve again. It may well be worth taking a chance on one of the two mares in the race here in MAID IN MILAN who looks as though she will be suited by a test such as this and is a straightforward sort to deal with. The other mare in the race Thegirlfrommilan may also find this more to her liking being a dual scorer in point-to-points and she should be watched in the market.
