Off the mark for the season when taking a Pontefract 6f handicap off a 2lb lower mark he's gone backwards since then that win being a temporary resurgence. Below form again last time in this grade and more needed here.
Had always looked to be better on the AW but was back at the top of his turf game when winning at Brighton on his penultimate start making all. Unable to dominate last time when running below par (ground also too soft) and more needed.
His form for this yard has been on an upward curve and he's already won off this mark earlier in the year. May well have needed his run last time off a break (weak in the market) and could well step forward again from a good draw.
In a good spell at the moment having won two of his last three starts with his last start/win being as good as some of his decent three-year-old form. Usually ridden from the front so nicely drawn here although he does have 7lb more to carry here.
The three runs when with Brian Ellison all showed some promise and came in a better grade than this. Hasn't fared as well since the move to this yard though and now upped to 6f for the first time since last year.
Twice a course winner over 5f when he had a golden spell last year he has won over this trip this year at Lingfield in the summer off a 1lb higher under this rider. Highly tried for the most part after that and looked much better back in this company last time.
Two wins so far this year although he's not the most consistent sort and since his last win his two outings have underlined that fact. He has looked temperamental in the past but this is his grade although the wide draw won't help.
Not that well drawn for one who likes to go forward in his races but has run well enough since winning at Windsor in August. His mark did suffer for that win though and he may well be held now off this mark but should run his race.
Rewarded for some consistent efforts with a C&D win here in May and runs off that same mark (72) here. Back from a break last time and should strip fitter for that run and one of three that his stable run here.
Only one win to his name - a Southwell 5f maiden event when with David Barron having shown some decent form as a juvenile in Ireland. Showed little on his debut for this yard having run poorly the time before that and questions to answer.
Looks to have gone off the boil with her last three starts all leaving a lot to be desired and certainly nowhere near the level of her winning form in the summer. Should be able to win off these sorts of marks but best watched for now.
Well supported on his first run for this yard (formerly with Jeremy Gask) when scoring at Leicester over 6f (soft). Not able to follow-up that win but has run with credit and 6f on this sort of ground looks ideal off a workable mark.
Forecasts
Short Work (7/4), Geoff Potts (3/1), Cosmic Chatter (15/2), Liberatum (11/1), Gilmer (14/1), Vallarta (16/1), Seamster (20/1), Love Oasis (25/1), Suitcase 'n' Taxi (25/1), Apricot Sky (33/1), Fujin (40/1), Berlios (50/1)
Not that many in this that would set the pulses racing although there are a few that you could say were bubbling under and would be very interesting on their old form like Apricot Sky and Berlios. Of the Ruth Carr trio Vallarta may marginally be the best with Geoff Potts looking to be one who should be in the mix especially if he can regain the form he showed on his debut for this yard. SHORT WORK looks to be the one to side with here though despite the 7lb rise he looked as though this class is just right for him these days and he did win with authority last time. The ground may well be against Fujin who has for the most part looked a better AW horse while Seamster should be another who is competitive in this grade.
- Short Work
- Geoff Potts
- Vallarta
