Still a maiden albeit a lightly raced one who hasn't shown the expected improvement in handicaps and looked to struggle to see out the trip (1m5f) last time. Left Richard Hughes and now makes his first start for this yard off his lowest mark yet.
Turned in a good effort last time out although he was beaten over C&D (went like the best horse at the weights) by one who came from off the pace. Appeared suited by soft going when winning earlier in the year (1m2f) and remains of interest on his ground.
Showed a good attitude when winning in determined fashion at Beverley over 2f shorter in July. That win has pushed him higher in the handicap than he's ever been though and life looks tough off marks such as this.
First-time blinkers worn last time out and that appeared to induce a slightly better performance although the trip (1m4f) looked as though it tested his suspect stamina. Has dropped to his last winning mark but the trip remains a doubt.
Six attempts in handicap company have yet to illicit a win although she may well have run into a couple of progressive types at Catterick last time. Looks to have a race in here but probably needs a greater test and this 1m4f may prove too sharp.
Has been kept busy of late over hurdles (won two juvenile events) before being switched back to Flat and making a winning return in that sphere at Musselburgh. Looked an improved sort there but will need to step up again here up in grade.
Not shown anything of late that would match his two runner-up efforts earlier in the year with his last two starts being particularly poor. Stays this trip and should act on the ground but needs to show more spark before he could be considered.
A couple of his placed efforts this year suggest that he could be better or need a greater test than this trip provides. Not see to best effect last time out at Catterick (left poorly placed) but has work to do with Duke's Girl who finished third.
Only seen sporadically this year which suggests that she may well have had some problems. Always dangerous to write one off from this yard with the blinkers going on for the first time but does look to be struggling at the moment.
Maiden form suggested that handicaps may see him in a better light but upped markedly in trip for a debut in that sphere on testing ground he didn't get home. Now back 2f in trip on his second handicap start this trip still looks too far.

Mirimar (11/8), Duke's Girl (11/2), Costa Percy (7/1), Snookered (7/1), Cornerstone Lad (10/1), Unonothinjonsnow (10/1), See The City (12/1), Tread Lightly (16/1), Miss Danby (25/1), Tristram (33/1), Little Jo (50/1)
MIRIMAR ran with a great deal of credit here last time when just picked off late and he remains one to be interested in and could well make amends for that last time out defeat. Duke’s Girl really looks as though she could do with a greater test than this and although Costa Percy will need to step up on his Flat form so far he does look as though he could improve. Cornerstone Lad isn’t one to leave out of calculations with this track expected to suit him better with Tristram given a chance of top weight starting out life for a new stable.
- Mirimar
- Costa Percy
- Cornerstone Lad
