Overcame a slow start to power home to win over 5f here latest, which was just reward for some solid previous efforts. Step up in trip should suit and definitely worth considering even though the colt has a stiff test at the weights under 4lb extra.

Stuck out wide on debut here and never managed to land a telling blow. Was a very expensive purchase and will be disappointing if he's not capable of better. Big improvement needed but the market can guide.

Swapped hands for €140,000 as a two-year-old, made a modest start at Haydock but improved when switched to the AW at Wolverhampton last time. More required but step back to 6f in his favour. One to monitor in the betting.
Strong pedigree for sprint distances and in the right hands to be placed to good effect. Again the betting market will be useful but appeals as a likely type and not a worry his stable introduce him at this late stage of the season.

Related to some very likeable types and will have a profitable future if at all capable of emulating the feats of the likes of tough sprinter Indian Trail. However, he failed to build on what was a promising debut, so may need more experience.

Pedigree interesting but no so the form of his debut run here last month. Big improvement needed and hard to recommend just now.

Solid enough debut was backed up with a decent effort behind a potentially smart individual at Windsor last month. Going the right way and highly respected connections. Worthy of consideration.
Pleasing effort on debut and be no surprise to see this fellow really benefit from his trainer's patient handling. Noteworthy if supported in the betting but equally an interesting one for a future handicap. Makes his AW debut this afternoon.
Beat just one horse home in debut and already has improvement to find. Possible the drop in trip also not ideal.

Pleasing start at Ascot but not backed it up in either start since. Possible something amiss last time but that run off-putting enough to consider looking elsewhere for the winner.

Forecasts

Sergio Leone (2/1), Knockout Blow (9/4), Bakht Khan (6/1), Society Prince (7/1), Walk On Walter (8/1), Go Roo (12/1), Ace Of Spades (25/1), Cardaw Lily (25/1), Fleeting Steps (33/1), Prince Rock (50/1)

Verdict

The weaker of the two divisions can go to norther raider KNOCKOPUT BLOW, who showed a willing attitude to win over what was possibly an inadequate trip last here last month. That experience of this surface is a big positive and, given the way he powered home in the latter stages of that race, his 4lb penalty might not be enough to peg him back when in full stride over this additional furlong. Sergio Leone is also going the right way and looks the biggest threat from those with experience, whereas the betting will be informative around the likes of Bakht Khan and the well-bred newcomer Fleeting Steps, who complete the shortlist on this occasion.
  1. Knockout Blow
  2. Sergio Leone
  3. Bakht Khan
