Easy winner of a Bath maiden in July, but hard to gauge strength of that form (odds-on favourite flopped), and he was well beaten on handicap bow at York in August. This is a little easier, but opposable on balance.

Made all to win at Yarmouth (7f) last summer, but has made no serious impact since despite a declining mark, and probably flattered by proximity in slowly-run race on penultimate start. Couldn't build on that last time.

Reliable veteran who again ran well when 4L third of 9 to High End at Wolverhampton last time. Likely to give another good account, but has no secrets from the handicapper, and others preferred.

Had appeared in handicapper's grip on turf, but showed improved form dropped back to 1m on AW at Kempton last time, making it 2-3 on artificial surfaces. Slight rise in class no great concern, and expected to go well once more.

Won at Kempton in April, and further progress when scoring over C&D in July. Arrives here on back of excellent second at Sandown, and winner of that contest has scored again subsequently. Merits maximum respect in current mood.

Dream Of Summer27
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: Harry Bentley| T: J Noseda| OR:  77| D

Front runner who ended time with Andrew Balding with a poor run in blinkers over C&D, but signs of a revival after a break for new stable recently, and not ruled out if he can build on that now.

Buckland Beau49
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-5| J: Oisin Murphy| T: C Fellowes| OR:  76| C
20/1
Good servant to yard who had been running respectably prior to a lesser effort over 7f at Yarmouth in August, but easy enough to forgive that, and expected to be competitive now back up in trip.

Went close twice over 7f on AW for Mark Johnston earlier in the summer, but not the most consistent, and ran poorly starting out for current yard at Wolverhampton in August. Something to prove now.

Best efforts have come at Yarmouth, and did well (rider dropped whip) when winning there last time, with Buckland Beau behind. Needs to prove he can be as effective away from that venue, however, and AW efforts have been disappointing.

Still unexposed, and represents leading jockey/trainer combination, so needs respect making handicap debut for all he didn't need to improve on earlier form when winning a maiden at Ripon on most recent start.

Chetant14
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-3| J: Joshua Bryan(5)| T: C Wallis| OR:  74| CD

In the form of his life at present, completing hat-trick of wins when beating Prince Jai over C&D a fortnight ago. Can't be underestimated, but has been competing in class 6 company, and this does represent a significant rise in grade.

Dual winner at 7f/1m on a sound surface this season, but has been well beaten on his last two starts, and his well-being must be taken on trust at present,

Foie Grasp5
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-10| J: Nicola Currie(7)| T: C A Dwyer| OR:  67| CD
66/1
Course regular who won over C&D in March, and made the frame in handicaps in May/June, but operating below his best in recent starts, and opposable at this level of competition even if bouncing back.

Forecasts

Tamayef (2/1), Musical Terms (3/1), Badenscoth (6/1), Balestra (8/1), Dream Of Summer (10/1), Chetan (12/1), Toga Tiger (16/1), Buckland Beau (20/1), Carnival King (20/1), Casina Di Notte (25/1), Kingsley Klarion (50/1), Wigan Warrior (66/1), Foie Gras (66/1)

Verdict

Musical Terms is unexposed, and makes his handicap debut for powerful connections, so merits respect, but he does need to step up., and preference is for TAMAYEF, with Hugo Palmer's gelding making it two from three on the AW when winning at Kempton last time. Badenscoth was better than ever when second at Sandown last time, and this C&D winner is a threat despite an awkward-looking draw.
